Which plow would you buy?

I found these 4 plows at a local farm equipment dealer.

Any additional information as to why you'd make certain choices would be great too.

Don't know where your from in southern Indiana but there's a consignment auction at Greenville the 28th. If your close you may find a deal on a set of plows.

Patrick, any of the Dearborn or Ferg plows would be fine...as a matter of fact they don't look too bad...now...how are the points/shears on each..this wear part is expensive on these old plows..to the tune of $65 ea for cast iron...steel are more. Also note that the curved crossbar/drawbar (piece on the plows that hook up to the 3pt hitch arms) on the later Dearborn plow are easier to set up than a straight drawbar (makes it easier to level the plow and is easier to adjust where the plow will run behind the tractor...I'm assuming you are gonna plow with the Ford?? Anyhow, the Ferg (grey) with the coulters looks nice but make sure that points/shears are available if they are worn. Also make sure the tail wheels (furrow wheels) turn easily and are not wobbily. Not knowing what area of southern Indy you are in, this spring there will be a few FFA consignment auctions in SW Ohio, they usually have a few 2 bottom and 5'-6' 3pt disks available, conditions are usually fair to good, and prices could be half of what you posted on that ad.

I live very near French Lick, but I know where the place in Greeneville is I think, is it right on 150?

Bob, I was actually planning on using the Mahindra to plow and disc, as the Ford is out of commision at the present.

Thanks for the info on the FFA auction. I think I'm about 5 hours from Dayton. I've been to the Hamvention there before.

I have the very same set of plows(the ones that are $250.00),I think the are marked Ford/Fergeson.They have been excellent,they have been in the family for 30 years.We used to pull them with and 8N,recently the have been pulled with L3130 Grand Kubota(31 hp) with no problem.Last year I pulled them with my L4240 Kubota, I plow about 8 acres a year with them.The only problem with them is that is no trip ,if you catch a big rock things can break.

And if you are not paying attention and they catch that unmovable object you can eat a steering wheel.

those prices seem quite reasonable to me.....the ones i've looked at around here asking $$ is about 350-550 for something similar.....

Patrick, have you ever been to the place in Gnaw Bone.
He has 2 and 3 bottom plows. They need a little TLC but basically they are in good shape. I'm thinking of picking up one this spring.
