I heard an ever so slightly different version, told as gospel by someone inside Bush Hog.

I'll be visiting with a couple BH reps I know very well, week after next. (Natl. Farm Mach. Show is in town) I'll get as much info from them as possible and pass it forward.

Yes. I have seen the letter. I read it, but it is not in front of me and I can not quote it. It did say that all PO's are to be cancelled and that materials should not be shipped or purchased on their behalf until further notice. Of course Bush Hog people don't want it to seem bad enough that all PO's were cancelled, but they were.

No. It is not available to view somewhere. At least not that I know of. I don't think the management at Bush Hog want the general public to see it.

I do not think anyone on this board wished that Bush Hog would be in the situation they are in. BH is a fine company and they have good products but they have made some management mistakes. Two to three years ago, BH should have reduced the number of products they offer. Rising steel prices and a southern drought for 2 years in a row has hurt all the cutter manufacturers. IMO 2009 does not look any better for cutter MFG's than 2008. This outlook may also depress the selling price of the core business of BH. In the last 3 years the front end loader market in the USA has lost 30k plus units of it's demand. The BH/Great Bend loader division has take a big hit on it sales volume.

The BH name will be around. You can purchase a BH product now and it is still a high quality product. BH is just going to have to restructure its business.

This is a real treat reading everyone's opinion of what Bush Hog is doing wrong. I guess you all don't know that Woods sent a letter to their reps back in October telling them that the company is for sale. Everyone thinks that Bush Hog is the first to do this but, in fact Woods was the first even though they haven't shut down any plants as of yet. They fired their oldest rep back in October and he had been with Woods for 25 years. Many of the Bush Hog reps have been with the company 35+ years. And everyone forgets that Allied products owned Bush Hog before CCI. Bush Hog also had one of the best lines of tillage equipment. They also mad peanut combines and no-till drills and even cotton module builders. I forgot they also bought Kewanee, Stan-Hoist, and several smaller companies in the 70's and 80's. They've had to restructure before and this is no different. Maybe some of you guys need to send a resume to Bush Hog and you could help them with all of your knowledge of running 200 million dollar companies.

I surely hate to hear that I have owned two brush hog cutters my first one is finally gave up after 20 years. My 2nd one is about 8 years old and I love it. Built solid and still runs like the day I bought it.
They make a great product but give it time just like all companies in todays economy rough times are here for a bit. As far as the made in the USA. Nothing in the US is 100% made in the usa any more. Most of the parts that build this equipment is outsourced to other countries. It may be assembled here but that is just the way our country works. They will get back on their feet.

Clarification is needed about the Bush Hog tillers. Bush Hog builds the RTS40, RTS50, RTS62 and RTS74. It buys the subcompact model from same Italian supplier for Deere and heavier RTN and RTH models from a very old source in Italy---has been for at least 20 years.

Bush Hog will rebound. As a matter of fact, the factory is running!

You might want to get your facts from another source. As usual you're misinformed Bush Hog sent 5 loads of buckets, mounting kits, & hoses to Tyler Bros. There are no serial #'s on any of these products. No products from Selma were sent to Tyler Bros. This isn't the first time Bush Hog has sent overstock to the auction.

For ACCURATE information on what's being sold, contact Tyler Bros (toll free) @ 866 983 2240. Items being auctioned are overstock loader parts and pieces. These parts never has serial #'s to begin with, so there were none to remove. Bush Hog auctions off overstock items on a regular basis.

Okay... here's the deal.

According to one of the gentleman at Tyler Brothers Auction, There are loaders, backhoes, loader buckets, backhoe buckets, mounting kits, and other accessories. Accessories can be anything from seats that were used to build the zero turn mower and engines to wheels... pretty much anything that was used to build equipment at the BH plant in TN.

I asked about quantities and according to the guy I talked to, who appeared to be the owner or of some other importance, there are AT LEAST 5 semi truck loads of the accessories. 15 + loads now does not seem to be out of the question.

A couple other tidbits -

Bush Hog is in debt, much farther than I suspected.

The highest offered bid on their business is much lower than I expected.

My sources tell me that if a deal isn't done in about 45 days, BH will be forced to declare some form of bankruptcy.

A friend of mine that works at the Bush-Hog plant in Telford said they were laying people off like crazy today, only about 50 employees left right now and last production day at the factory was gonna be March 27th, but they still could be bought between that time, and he said their are a few of the upper management has all-ready secured new jobs at other companys and scheduled to jump ship too in the next few weeks,

I stand corrected there were 15 loads of equipment. The first 10 loads were discontinued mounting kits from the old M series loaders. The backhoes are discontinued backhoes the are being replaced by the new curved boom backhoes that are getting ready to be shipped. The loaders are returns from dealers that were damaged during shipment. A lot of the buckets are from the old GB line that use the GB quick draw quick attach system. Some buckets use the old BH quick attach system. So if you all know someone who has these older loaders and need buckets let them know because there are several of them. The reason for my first post was that I had been told there would be five loads and after reading everyone's posts I called the TN plant.

Thanks for admitting your mistake. Next time though please don't insult another member of this board. No one likes what is happening to these companies but Mark does his best to keep this board informed as to what is going on. The last thing anyone wants is to be misled by a dealer trying to dump items from a company going under.

I personally want Bush Hog to stay in business. I will never buy another Woods cutter and was talking to my Bush Hog dealer about a new 15' cutter in December. I will not hesitate to buy Bush Hog items still as they are built well and I am not worried about them breaking down and not getting parts.

Do you think Bush hog cutters are superior to Woods? I've owned both, on a much smaller basis, 4' and 6' and really thought the woods was a smoother machine. Squealer VS Brush Bull. But I too hope they stay in business. All those lost jobs, what a shame. To loose your livelihood is a life changing experience most of the time.
