I have a New Holland TC55DA. I noticed a hydraulic leak coming from the filter area under the drivers seat area. Upon inspection, the hydraulic oil was coming from above the filter. There is what appears to be a 4 inch long nut about an inch in diameter, brass in color that screws into the tractor. When I grabbed hold of the filter itself, the whole unit moved, including the brass nut. Is my problem as easy as tightening this nut or is this not a nut at all and something has cracked. Thank you in advance for any info you have.

You asked a question that can't be answered without seeing the problem. Try tightening the "nut", if that cures the leak, you are done. If not, further disassembly/inspection will be needed. I'm guessing the banjo bolt attaching the supply tube to the hitch valve is loose. The cure may or may not require new o-rings. But that's only a guess.

Is the part you are talking about shown in the attached diagram? If so, please tell us the callout number. I'm guessing that you might be talking about #57, but I can't be sure.

Yes, #57 is the one. Can I just obtain new o-rings, lube them and put everything back together? Do you know what size wrench #57 is? I sure do appreciate the diagram. I suppose I should purchase a repair manual. Any suggestions on where to get on online? Thanks.

Purchasing the Repair Manual would be a very good thing. I refer to my manual on my TC45D all the time. It keeps me out of lots of trouble.

I am not familiar with your filter assy. or your tractor. I was just posting the diagram so you could tell us what the part is and hopefully some other expert will know what you should do about it. The diagram I posted is not from the repair mainual, but rather from PartsSpring.com . The title of the diagram is in the blue heading at the top of the page. I didn't find it with the normal hydraulic diagrams. It took some searching since it had "Power Steering" first in its title. I think the description of the part only listed its name, not its size. Can you get on it with an adjustable wrench?

Also, I sent you a PM.

Thanks for all the help with this one. I compared the diagram that Jinman sent with the one from the New Holland web site and they were a perfect match. I had the same trouble locating the correct diagram since it was labeled "Power Steering Pump and Hydraulic Pump". Turns out that all I need is the o-ring (#51 in the diagram).

Thanks to Lets Roll for a link to buy a repair manual. I knew I would need one eventually, but I thought I would be able to get away without one since since the tractor is still so new.
