Hauling a BX2230

Lbrown, I think that sometimes you jump in with both feet when you don't have a clue what you are talking about.
* You don't know how far or over what kind of roads I was on.
**I think the only purpose you post most of the time is so that you can run your post count up. A lot of times it was just to let everybody know that you had three tractors.
*I still wouldn't want to haul my Bx23 on A 9 ft single axle w/o brakes.
**That's wrong.

I have a BX2230 tractor and am wondering what type of trailer I need haul it. I have a 10' Kearney single axle utility trailer with a 3500# capacity axle. Best I can tell the tractor with belly mower and FEL is just under 2000#. Is that trailer sufficient?

If your trailer is rated at 3500 lbs, the tractor fits, and can be loaded properly then sure it is sufficient. If you would have asked if you could haul 2000 lbs of potatoes on a 3500 lb trailer I'm sure nobody would be saying "no." I haul my B7410 with a box blade on my 3500 lb single axle 5x12 trailer all the time.... and yes it works fine. And just so LB doesn't have to ask.... yes.... the tow vehicle is an import.

1*Double Dumb.;)
2*Was the tow vehicle an import pickup?:)

3*Double Dumb. again:)
4*Was the tow Veh. an import pick up?;)

lbrown- #3 When I said attempted - Perhaps i should have explained a bit more clearly. I took the BH and fel off. I drove it on the single axel trailer and then immediately took it off since I didnt like the way it looked on the trailer. The single axel trailer was supposely is rated for the BX weight by itself but at the time it was the only thing i had. instead of doing something dumb like you say , I didn't use the small trailer. I ended up getting a 7k rated trailer and it was perfect. I have been around towing trailers for awhile to know better- but sometimes in this economy- you do what you gotta do if you can do it safely , you know?:D:rolleyes: I only used my experience just to show the op what's the preferred method of transporting something sized like the BX.;) There are some TBN'ers have moved a BX sixed tractor on a single axel and did it safely anyway. I would said there are several variable of the type of the trailer OP has. Having two difference brands of 3.5k trailers side by side is no contest. One might be cheaply built, and the other well built. You could say , mine was cheaply built. Perhaps OP has a nicer trailer and will only be transporting his on back roads, level areas.

Lbrown - you do realize that states have various weight laws on trailers. For example in OP state texas he can tow up to 4,500 without brakes on the trailer. In new york its 3000lb. Why the 1.5 k difference? perhaps its the type of the terrain and the way a texan drives? I dunno:confused:. I only driven to texas once with a uhaul truck and car trailer for a freind on new years eve that brought snow (my freinds jokingly blamed me for bringing snow to texas with me). Anyway - back to point, I am not familar with a 10' Kearney trailer.

#4- nope - nothing like your small import truck!:D It's a chevy rated to tow 5k. It's a good match for me and equipment I am towing :) However I may upgrade to a better truck , just like most TBN'ers do.:p

I'm still not sure I'd want to tow my BX23 with my Toyota Nissan or Dodge D 50 pick up.

If you are planning to haul your tractor everyday, it would be better to have a dual axle trailer.
You could balance the load out a lot better.

If you keep the trailer you have and haul it everyday with some long trips, it would be best to have (two) spare tires. You never know what will happen out on the roads.

I have a dual axle trailer and had a blowout while driving, and drove over 15 miles before i could find a place to get off the road.

I don't see a problem with towing 2500 lbs with a truck rated to tow 6500 lbs. Maybe I'm missing something?
