I was trying to install my Bro-Tek skidplate this weekend and ran into a hiccup. I removed the two bolts on the drawbar and when doing so the frame portion has shifted to the point that the holes no longer line up with the drawbar plate and the frame in one spot. I wouldn't think that this was supposed to shift like that. Any ideas?

Ouch, that's an odd thing.. I did mine without any problems.
Maybe jiggling the tractor a bit with the backhoe applied to the ground might move things in the right direction...

Is the backhoe mounted ? perhaps there is extra weight somewhere causing it to shift when removing the bolts? IF the BH is still mounted, try lifting it with the stablizers and check to see if the drawbar plate holes line up again.

Just remembered.. when I installed my skidplate the backhoe was off - otherwise you don't have access to the drawbar area. Maybe another solution would be to park sideways on an incline.

Can you wedge a 2X4 between the els to spread the sides apart so the bolts line up?

Will a small bottle jack fit between the side plates? You could use it to spread the sides while you put the bolts in.

Very simple way of lining them up ,place a large tapered punch in the hole between the two pieces and pry one piece against the other, move it over enough to stick a bolt in one of the other holes. Once you get two bolts in the rest will line up. The longer the punch the better the leverage.

Use a tappered pry bar. Place it in one hole and move it so that one of the other holes line up. Place a bolt in the lined up hole. Don't tighten it up yet. Move bar to another hole and repeat. You should be able to get everything lined up that way. Leave one hole open and use the bar to line up everything as you get it tightened up.

Sincerely, Dirt
