Hello All,

I'm just getting started with this 3110D I bought today, I have never owned or operated a tractor until now and have to learn on my own, any advice would be appreciated, It looks brand new but I was told it was completely rebuilt and is a 2008 model which after reading here a little I determined it must be a gray tractor that was modified with ROPS, it also has three different PTO settings.

I have 8 acres of wooded land to clear and dont have a clue as to what I can mow down with it, there are many small trees about an inch or two in diameter probably two to three feet high, the land was cleared about 3 years ago but these have grown since.

here is a picture of the machine, hopefully I wont trash my new 5' brush hog this weekend.

Piney,

Welcome to TBN. May you get many many good hours out of your beautiful, new-to you machine. Why don't you fill in the rest of your profile and others of the group may live close to you.

There are several members who have the 3110 and have been very happy with it. However, I must tell you that it certainly was not built in 2008, but rather between 1979 -1981. According to my sources Yanmar built this model only in these years and it is a shame that a dealer would not tell the truth about that.

That aside, however, it is a testimony of the toughness of these tractors that they are still a usable machine after 30 years. Parts are readily available and advice from many who own and import these fine tractors.

Again welcome to the information source for Yanmar. There is a bunch of reading here for you to "catch up" on. :) Just a search of 3110 in the Yanmar forum brought up 104 hits. Have fun.

Set your back tires as wide as they will go .an put some weight on the back .these tractors don't work like a big tractor .On a big tractor if you over load the FEL the back in will get light. If you over load that 3110 with the loader it will go to the right or left. Don't ask how I know.

Thanks Gizmo36,

unfortunately I already found it out, today was the first day I got to play around on it and I thought I'd give the F/L a tryout, I have an old fence you cant hardly see because of all the wild grapevines, lots of em are are about 1 inch thick,
I've been here 22 years and the fence was old back then.

anyway I lowered the scoop and drove straight in then started lifting, I thought I could tell the left side was a little higher than the right, but my son yelled at me so I backed off and he told me the left tire was about a foot and a half off the ground, You sure couldnt tell it from sittin in the seat!

Whoever rebuilt this machine did a heck of a job, all new sheet metal, tires, you name it, it looks like the only things original is the engine and gearcases.

Whats the best way to get the back tires off the ground? just a hydraulic jack under the rear?

I wonder if it'll still fit on my trailer after I reverse the wheels?

Hydraulic jack is all I use.The left side is the one that came up on me two times. It almost turned over to the right. My wife was having a fit.I have 600 pounds on the back of mine now.It looks good lets see some pictures of it.

you could fill the rear tires with water / antfreeze for xtra weight. Mine are filled

Welcome to the Group:

The suggestion to fill the rear tires is good. That should give you more stability.

My YM2620D has 4 PTO speeds. The #1 speed is about 540 rpms on the bush hog @ 2200rpm engine speed. I think your unit is about the same set up.

As for the small trees: I back into them in very slowly. I run in first gear at 2200rpms. Wear eye protection. Go slow. If you need to bend the tree before cutting, raise the hog slightly then come down on the tree. Do not try and cut to large of tree. Better to chain saw and push into a burn pile.

On tire reversal. If your tires are set narrow, moving them out is a good idea. This may cause your tire lugs to face the wrong way though. You may have to have the tires remounted with the lug direction going the correct way. After that, tire filling would be in order.

For pulling out post I use a chain around the center of the front bucket. You can push the old post with the front bucket to loosen them and then pull them straight up and out with
the chain.

You have a great machine. I know you will enjoy the "seat time" in the future.

You do not have to remount the tires, simply swap them from side to side and the tread will be right.
