I had a bud call me from the Richie Bros auction in Ft Worth. He said D8N's that went for $110 to 125,000 a year ago went for the middle forties this year. D3's went for the low to middle twenties and the same size Case, 450's, went for the low teens.

He bought some stuff and claimed he stole it.

I guess it's a sign of the times.......

Whoa... That will bring pressure on the new sales, too. If guys can pick up good used equipment for $0.30-$0.40 on the dollar - there will be even less new equipment sold.

(Where is that checkbook...?) :D

I bought my TLB about two years early... I found a Case 590 (big boy!) that would have been in the forties two years ago for $25,000 a few days ago.

I doubt I could unload mine for the same money I paid so I'll just drive it and be happy.

Well Harv, you put an auger on the back of that D8 and you will be the baddest fence man in the south.

I am still waiting for any deals in my area. People still don't realize there is a recession going on.

I was at the Noonday Auction just south of Tyler on Saturday and saw some great deals on farm tractors. Cab, 100hp 4x4 Case with a quick attach bucket on the loader and four remotes went for $22,000. It had 340 hours on it!!!!

Two Kubota 95hp, cab, 4x4 tractors with loaders and remotes went for $34,000 and $32,000. They were both in the 200 to 400 hour range.

A 45 hp Branson, 4x4 with loader and 120 hours went for $7,700. That was one that we didn't see when looking around and didn't see it coming. After it went for that price, we were sick.

We didn't wait around for the yellow iron, but there was a nice selection of stuff to choose from.

I just put a deposit on a 2000 New Holland LB115 loader backhoe. 108HP, 4WD/4WS/crab steer, powershift trans, cab/air/air seat, Ex-hoe, 4 in1 bucket 1.3yd FEL bucket, 4 extra backhoe buckets, 75% tires, all new filters & fluids for 24.5K.

Machine has 5800 hours, but looks showroom new. In fact, it looks newer than my Case did when it was only 2 years old. Never saw snow or salt, stored mostly indoors.

I thought that was a heck of a deal.

The problem is a lot of equipment has been picked over. Better buy soon or it'll be gone, unless this recession deepens.

Is the LB115 the one with the same sized tires front and rear? If so, that's a very impressive machine. For the life of me, I don't understand why they stopped making them. JCB has one like it too and they seem to be good sellers. Cat has one overseas, but says they wont bring it to the US. Don't know why since it specs out even like the ultimate backhoe!!!!

Do you still have the Case? what did or are you going to do with it?

Congrats,
Eddie

Unless the website is outdated, New Holland is still making the lb115. Ntec in Texas has
a used one in their latest ad.

Builder, I'm eager to hear your impressions on the 115.
I've always liked the look of the big tired backhoes. They look like life size tonka toy. :)

I do wonder about the view to the front bucket though...

Eddie,

I'm happy to report they still make them! JCB also makes them in 3 or 4 different sizes.

Terex makes a "970" with 4 equal size tires.

CAT just came out with one for the US market and has offered them in Euro, AUS & other countries for many years.

I like the idea of the 4 wheel steering & crab steer.
