Tiller KKII 48" tiller or Woods 52" tiller

So I went to the dealer today and found out the Woods tiller is the GTC52-2, NOT the heavier GT52 that I thought they were quoting me on. the GTC does not give the option to add more tines as the GT52 does. It would be $2050 for the GT52 with 4 tines. Now I'm leaning even more towards the KKII.
The dealer was pushing the woods because of the 3-5 year gearbox warranty. It didn't mean much to me as I assume that I'll generally have a problem in the first year, or I most likely won't have a problem until well past the 5th year.

You don't need a gear warraty on a tiller that's not gear drive anyhow.

I can not believe you are even considering a KK with the Woods being so close in price. KK is kind of a light duty line and Woods is profession line. This seems like a no brainier.

For what its worth,i also have a Woods GTC52-2.I've seen it spit out rocks the size of footballs (along with alot of other junk)and it only scratched the paint.Of course a KK could be just as tough,i dont know.But i am glad i bought my Woods.

Also... the only thing you should have to do is add 80/90 wt gear oil to the gearboxes on the King Kutter tiller. [ snip...].

Off the top of my head, I believe the manual says to use 85w-140 gear oil. At least for the 6' model.

I pondered the same question before purchasing my GTC52-2. I know there are plenty of KKII supporters out there, but I couldn't be happier with my Woods. The 52" also covers my tracks better than a 48". As previously stated, this tiller kicked out some mean rocks without hesitation. Very well made, as is other Woods products. I honestly don't think you could go wrong with either, but I would consider dealer support in making a decision. I paid $1895.00 for my tiller, so $1599.00 including set up from the dealer sounds pretty good.
