Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Tractor snow tales

   / Tractor snow tales #11
After one of our larger snowfalls this winter, I had cleared my laneway and decided to drive down the road and blow out my neighbours who only has a walk behind blower. After an uneventfull five minute job I went back to my place and started working on something else. A couple of days later my neighbour stopped by to say thanks and to ask if I had seen a cell phone when I was blowing the driveway -- thought he had dropped on the way out the morning of the snowfall. He had -- we found it during the first thaw about 20' out on his lawn It was still in one piece but much worse for wear:eek::eek:. Cell phones don't work where we are anyway:rolleyes:

Thanks for the picture- I don't yet have the funds for the shop I want to put in, so was thinking of just a three-sided concrete-block structure with a lift-off top, and a weighted flap in the front. Something a little wider than my bucket that would hold about 6 yards.
I just happened to have room in the one bay of

this 6 bay unfinished 76 long x22 deep pole building for the dirt and some sand.
Once I ever get the building completed i will lose this feature.

I just got my 1531MF with the FEL and backhoe. On the second night home as I was playing behind the barn moving snow I got a little too greedy and got spinning down to the mud. It was late and I couldn't see how bad it was so I went out the next day to get it out. About an hour later, lots of old beams and pulling with the backhoe she came out. I am going to stay on higher ground for a little while.

I shared this on another thread but here is a little story..

When we had the largest fall of the season, a whopping 14 inches! and for us 2 inches shuts down the schools....

I scraped my driveway, 2 neighbors and 2 miles of county road since they refused to do it.. Only to have them do it the next day...

anyway... Nice stories folks.. and for a tractor snow pics check out the ones below-- there are driveway pics and more....

Later,
J

Fortunately, I had no adventures this snow season, just the usual 20 feet of snow. I have never heard of the island of Stanwood, Michigan. When I googled it, I didn't see an island anywhere around.

Hey smfcpacfp,

What size is your tractor, do you wish you had a bigger one sometimes? I've got a IH1066 about 100hp and I'm thinking of a smaller tractor like a 60-80 hp with a smaller snowblower. I know it sounds crazy but the New tractor we got the NH T2220 really has me spoiled and wanting a tractor that's easier to drive.

No doubt, this is one of those you-had-to-see-it stories. I snowblow a couple of my neighbors' driveways, one being a big ole house that was long ago turned into four apartments. The town plow had gone by, leaving snowbanks two feet deep. As I start working into the snowbank at the edge of the driveway............ I see debris flying everywhere. I could only describe what was in front of me as a big confetti cannon  !! Newspapers, shredded milk cartons, etc. flying out my blower chute!Apparently, the night before, one of the tenants put their trash bags out at the street for pickup. Unfortunately, by the time the trash truck came by, the bags (white plastic bags) were covered in snow and the trashmen never saw them. What a mess !!! :(
