You should be able to get a dealer to run the Serial Number and tell you some info about it.

Thanks everyone for your comments and leads, No photos yet but I will get photos soon and try to get them in for you all to see. I will also get the serial number and give that route a whirl and all the other suggestions.

Ok my friend checked out the tractor and was impressed on it's condition, it did not look like there was any dents or visible repairs, and the bucket looked great and not dinged up at all, he also said it only looked like the Hoe was only used a couple of times at best, it does not have the Hydro that I was hoping for. I have a back problem so I don't know if the clutch will be an issue for me.
He was not able to locate the serial ## so I will try to dig those up this week.

Chuck, as previously mentioned I traded the B6200 (different sheet metal) compared to the B1550. The B6200 had a "standard" transmission which was very strong but a royal pain to use. To go from forward to reverse or to change the gear you were in you had to make sure the tractor was completely stopped. If not you could really grind gears, ask me how I know. As a matter of fact my neighbor used to joke with me every time he heard me change direction and would ask me if I was grinding meat. Pretty funny, not!! Also I had a rear finish mower and when I would get to a corner of the property or had to stop near some trees you had to depress the clutch pedal to stop, this in turn stopped the mower blades from spinning. What a royal PITA!. That is probably the main reason why I went with the B1550 hydro. If the B6200 had hydro I'm sure I would have never traded up to the B1550. If you have a lot of stop and go, forward and reverse I don't believe you will like the gear tractor. Wide open property, slow exact speeds, the gear would probably be ok. For me I'll take the hydro any day of the week. My two cents. Good luck, keep us informed.

Stanley, I must say that the whole story you said brought this image to my mind and I could not help but chuckle, I can just see your neighbor laughing and you wanting to run him over with your " meat Grinder" of a tractor. lol
That is great info though, I appreciate it alot. I certainly can see what you mean and why that "clutch" would be aggrivating.
So if I was to look for Hydro in a tractor what would you reccommend? I saw a New Holland ( 10 L A ) <--I think that's what it was ....low hours & still looked fairly new and asking price is $14,500 or should I look at something like the Kubota BX25?? Because I do have a concern with the "clutch" issue.
I don't have any mowing to do but I am sure that the issue's you mention will happen in other situations.
I have driven a stick in the past but certainly would like to avoid it if possible.

If you could tell us what you will be using the tractor for, how much ground you own, etc. I could possibly suggest something. I'm not real familiar with brands outside of Kubota. I think all the major brands are all quite good, but I highly recommend the hydro and 4 wheel drive.

I have 6 acres of land and would like to clear out some areas to make a bigger back yard. There were quite a bit of trees ( mainly Pine ) and those stumps will need to be dug out, I realize that a small tractor will not be able to stump out more than maybe a 6 to 8 inch round at best....I have some trenches to dig ( need to find my perimeter drains that are clogged or crushed ?? ) and obviously will have dirt and fill to toss around as well in the future, I also believe that there is ledge here....YES LEDGE! I have around 375 feet of driveway to plow snow in the great winters here in New Hampshire, which will become the main reason I will use this tractor.
If I add more back yard, I will need to mow this lawn and therefore will end up having to deal with the gear issue as opposed to having HST, that we mentioned before!
There is a Massey Ferguson Dealer about 3 miles away, and a few towns over there is a bigger dealer that does have Kubota's & New Hollands. Purchasing from them may be more benificial when it comes to repairs ETC.

but check out his B3030 cabbed tractor. He gets substantial snow as I think you too would get. Pushing snow in real cold weather in an open tractor can get old real fast, in my humble opinion. Did that, not anymore for me! See how the Massey and Kubotas tractor feel when you drive them. Take 'em for a spin!

I was able to view some of that U-Tube video ( we have Dial up internet in my neck of the woods....not u-tube friendly at all ), but that B3030 does look sweet! I agree that working in the cold/wet snow & wind will not be something to look forward to without a cab and heat! Sucking up dust is not to healthy either!
So over all I may need something with more Horse Power and othe options than the B1550 to do what I need to do.
