turf front/ r-4 rears??

   / turf front/ r-4 rears?? #11
Thanks for the answers and help. I dont know if the r-4 will damage the yard when turning , anyone have that problem with the r-4 tires on the front of a 2305 . I have a 2210 now and selling it to buy a 2305 , the 2210 has turf and the 2305 has the r-4. thanks
I really don't think tread pattern even enters into this on the smaller lighter sub compacts .

I'll begin by stating the obvious - I am neither an engineer or a mechanic, just asking a sincere question.

As long as both front tires have the same circumference, why does it matter if they are not the same as the ones they replaced? Unlike a car/truck, the front tires tractor tires are already much smaller than the rear ones.

Unlike a tractor
the front and rear wheels on cars and trucks are the same size.

Blanket statement :D

Some tractors, Ag in particular, have same size tires.

Some cars, sports cars in particular, us different rim and/or tire sizes to maximize handling and/or braking.

Yes the fronts are much smaller, but the driveline was designed for that specific ratio. It is extremely important that this be maintained when operating in 4wd. If you never use the tractor in 4wd, then it doesn't matter. Otherwise, any difference from the current ratio means the drivetrain is constantly under stress unless you're working in extremely loose soil that can give.

Both of these are exceptions to the rule.

R4 tires may tear up the lawn a little but I would keep them for extra traction when you need it. I know it will be easier on the yard than a skidsteer. I have used turfs (R3s) in 4x4 and have hurt the grass a bit. even sharp turns in 4x2 will cut up the ground except on hard soil with deep rooted grassw. Just be careful with the R4s.
