It sounds fine, but a couple of suggestions. Warm up the engine for five minutes at 1600 rpm (or more) before using it. Don't idle it to warm it up. The other suggestion is to kill the engine before turning the key off. Some tractors take a hit on the alternator if you turn the key off while running.

I have often wondered if this statement is correct or just rumor as I have heard it before. In all my old tractors I used to turn the key off and take the keys out to unlock a gate without killing the motor and never have had any alternator problems. Does anyone have any definitive answer on whether this does or does not hurt the alternator or regulator?

It justs turns off the elec. power to the tractor.On the subject of elec. hits I have heard rumors of jump starting can take out the regulater.I read it from a post from Aaron at Hoye they quit doing it.

You should be careful jumpstarting a tractor from a running one. The dead tractor will put quite a spike onto the running tractor while cranking (or stopping a crank). If you have a dead tractor, you should be able to safely charge it's battery from a running tractor, but just charge the battery for a bit. If you disconnect the jumpers before you crank the dead one, you shouldn't damage anything.
