I'm headed up to purchase, maybe? A 2004 CX Gator, no dents, no scratches and like new (almost) condition with less than 175 hours. Priced at $4125 plus tax from a JD dealer. Good deal or not? Seems a little "doggie" when first started up 40 degree day but otherwise seems ok.

Anything I should be checking??

Besides the drive belt and oil changes, what else is needed for maintenance? Does the 10 HP Kawasaki engine require valve adjustments?

Thanks in advance.

Well I got it! It will more than likely be my favorite Green toy. Even got my wife to drive it, comment, "makes noise", yeah compared to our electric golf cart which had real problems on hills.
But I pointed out the dump bed and the fact that I can put her lawn cart/ trailer on behind, after I mount the rear hitch. Think how useful it will be!

the next thing to do is add a loader on it that will make it very useful

That should help it pull some wheelies!

How much does that "loader" weigh? And if you scoop anything up in the bucket, how do you keep it from falling out when you travel (lift it really high??) and how do you dump with no articulation at the bucket? Kudos for your efforts but I don't quite understand.

Yes, I would like to see the finished product. I built a loader for my JD318 using the factory up front attachment points and on board hyd system. I don't see how this would work, and how would you dump?
My guess it weighs 200 lbs or more in steel alone, without a load.

My project for today is to build a hitch for the back of this little gator.
