5403 vs 5425 "age-old" questions

they should be able to do a little better then that I would think?? they're really pushing those 5025's off the lot around here(or at least trying to). people keep buying the 5003 series though. i was looking at the trader paper the other day and saw an add for a 5325, mfwd, power reverser, with 200 hours and the guy only wanted 22,000 if i had money to burn or if i had seen that add 7 months ago that baby woulda been mine!

Well if all goes well I should have a 5425 in a week or so. Sent the money and once it arrives/clears they will be sending the tractor to me. I think I would be happy with either but am certainly happy with my pending "new" arrival. I agree that the added weight and cylinder may help with lugging and baling. Thanks to all for the advice and I will post a pic once the stork arrives!

I have a 5520 rather than the lesser HP JD's I looked at and love my choice. You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much horsepower.

That would have been a sweet deal for that used 5325 Rollingsfarm.

I did drive a 5203 with 4WD around come to think of it. I was helping a salesmen load a
Bush Hog rear blade I bought and he used the 5203 for hydaulics to adjust the blade. I drove it up the hill and parked it for him. Nice piece of equipment, but still not like the '25.

Good point, but it is a reputable and well established John Deere dealer. I was out of town 'til yesterday, so hopefully we can coordinate delivery this week.

Got it today....very nice. I took all my boys out for a ride so far. I also got a "new" New Holland 273 baler for $800. I saw it in Craigs list hours after it was listed and went and got it. Tomorrow I clean off the bailer and see what's under that mud!

Some pics. My children think 4 wheel drive is the same as 4 wheel RIDE. Also a pic of the rusty "new" bailer. If it bails fine I will pull apart enough to really clean, derust and paint. And, yes I know that the tractor needs some mud on it...just looks too clean now.

Great tractor, great photos and great looking family. Not much difference between ageas of the kids? Twins?
You might find you might need a front starter weight and some suitcase weights. Great purchase and thanks for the photos.
