Looks pretty light. What will you be pulling it with?

simplicity 3416h 16 hp

Can't tell but is the backside of the blade reinforced any?? If not, I can imagine the blade may bend fairly easily if it hangs up on a rock or something. That's a wide but fairly thin expanse of steel there. If there is no bracing on the backside, I would consider adding some heavy angle iron across the width of the blade, maybe about 2 inches from the bottom edge. Or did you plan to add a thicker replaceable blade to it?

Also, I think I would add some bracing from the top middle of the blade up to the center link bracket to give it some support as well. I can imagine the box itself wanting to "torque over" some when it does hang up on something. Otherwise, it should work nicely for that size tractor.

Amen to that. I learned the hard way.

It does look lite but if you are just spreading dirt it may work ok. I am interested to see your 3ph for the simplicity. I have the same tractor and am thinking about rigging one up for diffrent attachments. What dimensions did you make the attachment points?

ive got a 1 inch thick cutting edge im gona bolt on when the snow melts so i can find it. im also gona weld flat bar on edge along the back becasue that is stronger then angle iron flat or on a 45. according to the welding book i have. and the 3pt hitch is all home built. it is built to catagory 0 specs ill get pics of it tomoro

Overall it's a good job. Weld the cutter bar across the back at an angle and it should be stiff enough.Round off the leading edges of the wings a little. I am a bit concerned about the lift arm brackets though...they look light to me.

Very neato - good job.

I think bobodu has some good advice but use it for light stuff and watch closely the first few times and you will know for sure. Looks very hand for your Simplicity. I have two AC 616's which are the same as a Simplicity 4040 at 16hp and cat 0 3ph. I use a cat 1 box blade and it works very well - it's good rear ballast too.

In addition to TBN, I spend a lot of time on "Michaels Tractors" which is a site for AC adn Simplicity fans. Check it out, the guys there would love to see your project and your tractor.

Bobodu, where did you get that hilarious avatar?

Made it using Gif Construction Set. Did one many years ago that showed a parade of different colored tractors. A big bird swooped down and carried the green one off.
