Tires BX24 dirt/mud tires - turf or r4 or combo?

I have turfs now that are not loaded for my grass. Would it make sense to get R4s that are filled for better traction on mud or dirt? I think if I do this I might only get rears. Thoughts?

If your planning on buying an extra set of tires and rims. I would go with the bar or ag tires for mud. R4's are the all around tire that is what I have on mine and they work very well. If your are just going to have just one set of rims I would go with R4's best of both worlds.

You can't run turfs on one end and R4s on the other.

There are some here that says r4 and turfs don't have the same radius therefore when in 4 wheel drive with mixed tires, it could damage the hydro tranny. I currently have turfs, and I do find that they do clog up in the deep mud, but does fine with light mud. I have filled the tires with liquid ballast and they really to help in the mud. Add chains , you would have better traction then r4 alone. just my 2 cents.

I priced a set of rims and tires, and it was less money than I was expecting, less than $400 if I recall.

You can't mix tires.

why cant the two different types of tires be mixed? I thought this was now an option from the factory on the new Bs. Obviously the fronts are always much smaller

Because it will mess up the rialto between fronts and rears causing drive train damage.
There was a thread about this just the other day.

I bought my BX2200 with turfs on one set of wheels and ags on another. The turfs have been sitting in the crawlspace for 8 years. The turfs are useless when doing ground engagement work, like ripping hard clay with a sub-soiler. On the other hand, the ags do no damage at all to my lawn, even when wet. It is a no brainer: ags stay on all the time. Forget turfs, forget industrials, ags are the only tire to consider in my book.

LB is correct, it is not that the different types of tread make a difference, it is the diameter that is important. Without the proper diameter ratio front to rear the drive train will bind which can do bad things.

It would seem that a set of chains would be the cheapest and easiest way to gain traction. I would think changing tires between mowings would get very old.
