Yesterday we went to Wheeler Metals in Muskogee, OK to purchase the rebar needed for our footings and slabs. Our builder Terra-Dome will build the superstructure from the footing to the roof. Because it's a buyer's market and I was purchasing 7200 feet of rebar and other high dollar things, I was able to demand deep discounts on much of the items. I calculated our saving to be close to $500. I was considering purchasing a Hobart 10,000 watt generator welder but opted for the Lincoln Ranger 250 GXT. I paid $275 more but since this dealer was out of the city I saved $130 on just the tax. So I only paid a $150 more for a way better generator and the welder's can never be compared. At Lincoln they are experts in designing and manufacturing only welding equipment and well Hobart has their hands in everything. I am glad I paid the few extra bucks.
I should have made two trips because that load was close to 10k. I was forced to drive 45 MPH most of the way and had no problems. I am sure our jeep was pleased when we removed the rebar. After we gather a few more things we will begin building our footings.
