Rocks, Rocky, rough, rocks, ok, here's a small sampling of some rocks I've dug up. I literally can not dig more than 3 feet in any direction without hitting one of these puppies.

Sounds like my New Hampshire yard. Hilly, Rocky, and full of roots...

No problem tearing into that hill with my little CK20...

Yes, I have the shuttle and I love it. I have never owned a gear unit, so my background is limited. However, with using the FEL it has been great! I am glad that I went that way and paid a little extra. The one thing that settled my decision on the shuttle were I had only 3 controls (throttle, range, and pedals) verses 4 on the gear (clutch). Plus I love how quickly I can go from forward to reverse effortlessly. This also comes in handy when plowing with the 3PH. The one down side is I have some big hills that I can, at times struggle to get up in Medium and I need to shift to Low gear.

It sounds like your actually refering to a hydrostat. You still have a clutch with shuttle shift. (Which I belive is actually considered a syncronized reverser on Kioti's) You still have to use the clutch to shift forward to reverse, it's just synchronized so you don't have to stop.

Sorry, you're right. I have the hydro! I though that's what he meant by shuttle.

I hate when sales people bash other products to sell theirs. It is such a lame way to go. My Kioti dealer used to sell Kubota and wishes he could have both on the lot.

The local Kubota guy does not bash Kioti quality but does use the "Kubota has 80% of the CT market", "resale" and "widespread established support network" lines. They are all true, but what I as a buyer wanted to know was technical stuff like will it do what I need, how is the warranty, how much hydraulic flow, and so on. Resale means bubkus to me for cars and trucks and tractors 'cuz I don't ever intend to sell any of them until I have either worn them out or they have long past earned their keep.

The quality of the Kioti can't be beat, that is why so many are buying them. A smart buyer gets the most for his or her money, I think Kioti is a smart buyers machine.

Does Kioti offer the hydraulic shuttle on it's larger 70-90 hp ag models, or are they a dry disc/ clutch driven shuttle? if not, why not? wouldn't that be a big plus on convenience and clutch longevity? just asking bb

Bubba; was also wondering about the shuttle function on the Kioti, do not really know mechanically how they work vs Kubota. Guess I will have to do a bit more looking into that.

The DK75 and DK90 use a ceramic type single dry plate clutch on the fully synchronized 12x12 and 16x16 shuttle transmissions.

From Kioti: The DK 75 has 12 forward and 12 reverse gears making it versatile and adaptable to your applications. The fully synchronized shuttle is easy to operate.

The DK90 with 16 forward and 16 reverse gears have travel speeds to match any task around the farm. The fully synchronized shuttle is easy to operate. The DK90 also has a factory installed creeper gear that propels the tractor at speeds as low as .12 MPH.

Dmace thanks for info. Although I'm an M8540 K owner, I've always been impressed with Kioti's construction and have no doubt it's an outstanding machine. Given it's quality & reputation, I wonder why, on the upper end ag models, Kioti has not included the hydraulic shuttle in it's venue. I can't imagine, in my fel work, doing without the h shuttle. Also, I'm told, the wet pack plates last longer than the conventional ceramic clutch system. But, like anything else in life, including these computers, there were systems around long before with great success. Just an academic question in comparison, no value judgment intended. bb

As far as I can see Kioti's corporate philosophy seems to be to go with the tried and true even if it means they are a half a generation or more behind the technology leaders like Kubota and JD on these sorts of things. They stick with stable technology perhaps because their engineering departments are not the size of Kubota's and JD's. Other than the shuttle example one can look at the HSTs offered by the three companies. Kubota and JD both have more sophisticated HSTs and the Kioti HST is similar in technology to the last generation of Kubota or JD equipment. I have no doubt that Kioti engineers are learning from the Kubota and JD experience and will eventually incorporate some of this technology. For now it seems Kioti is happy to be a half step behind in technology and to focus on quality and reliability etc on the engineering/manufacturing side. While JD and Kubota compete to offer the latest technology, Kioti seems happy with a market strategy based on value.

I can see that for some critical applications the latest technology could make a difference but for my money if last years HST was good enough to make tens of thousands of JD and Kubota users happy then I can live with that technology in my Kioti. Kind of like having a four or five speed automatic transmission in your car when Mercedes and Lexus are now using 7 speed transmissions. The five speed still works just fine.
