Jinman, I have a question..why do you use just the tractor for hauling and loading?
Wouldn't it be easier to use the truck to do the towing and the tractor to do the loading, it's not far and would go faster.
That is what I am doing right now with my little dump trailer, towing it with the tacoma and loading the trailer with tractor.

Nice trailer:)

Get a battery tender or one of them solar models that will keep the battery charged, they are nice.

Al, I'd love to use the truck, but I have been getting dirt from places that require all the tractor's power and traction to pull the loaded trailer. I have several hills and ridges that take everything my tractor can muster. My pickup has plenty of power, but is only 2wd with no differential lock. One wheel and a highway tire would just spin. I'm looking forward to the day when I have a load to haul over normal terrain and streets where I can load with the tractor and haul with the truck.:)

I can understand, I use 4X4 low in the Taco for pullin mine around. My little 2wd tractor is just too small and looses traction pretty quick which can get very interesting.
My Jeep did a great job also but it has a bad bearing in the tranny and it is awaiting many off-road mods when $$$ comes available.

Perfect!!! I've been considering this exact trailer from the exact place. The only thing different will be the ramps included. I considered the price being to good to be true, that there must be a trade off in quality but it's doesn't sound like it! So before I buy it, I'm gonna try and coordinate it with a trip that way, or have my father pick it up on the way in from a job out that way. Any more insight you could give a very potential buyer?

Just as a reminder, that 26,000lb ball is good, but make sure the hitch you bolt it to is rated for the load also.

Both the manufacturing and sales facilities are located on the west access road of I-45 at exit 142 in Madisonville. I think they build the trailers and sell them from one physical location which cuts down on transport and inventory. They don't have to transport a trailer unless it is sold and being delivered. The only transportation costs are associated with raw materials. Also, they don't have multiple sales lots that have to have inventory. There are two guys working in the sales office and one guy doing setup in the make-ready shop. If you want delivery, they charge $1 per mile one-way. They sub-contract delivery to a fellow who is semi-retired and pulls trailers behind his 1-ton dually.

If you think you will pull that trailer with a tractor that has remotes, they can configure a trailer with shuttle valves and quick connects so you can use your tractor's hydraulics instead of the pump. The pump is not fast, but it is very strong. I'm doing my own shuttle valve retrofit because I want fast and strong hydraulics.

You are right about that trailer and the hitch. The hitch on my trailer is a Class IV hitch. Most receivers on pickups are Class III. You should configure your towing vehicle for the Class IV hitch unless you only haul light loads.

BTW: On the front of the trailer subframe, there are two "ears" made of 3/8" x 4" plate. These ears hold the dump bed centered over the frame. I found that the bed hinges have enough flex that the bed will not come down perfectly between the ears if you are on unlevel ground. The bed will hit on top of the ear and twist. I just took a small sledgehammer and bent each ear out 1/4" at the top. That's all it took to allow the dump bed to go between the ears and center itself as it seats.

The tailgate doors have zerks on each hinge and the bed hinges (4 total) have zerks. So there are four zerks on the doors and four on the bed hinges. The tongue jack also has a grease zerk.

:eek::eek: Didn't even notice the loops until you mentioned it. The driver put the safety chain hooks on the c-channel when he delivered the trailer and I just blindly followed his lead.:D

I have already spotted the twist in the hose and the way they just ran it straight across. That probably saves 3' or more of hose for each trailer. I do think they twisted the hose on purpose to allow a slight slack for expansion and contraction. I believe the hoses have swivel fittings on each end.

Also, there is black paint on the hydraulic rams. It's still sticky. Evidently when they painted the cylinders, they painted the wiper seal and then retracted the cylinders with wet paint on them. I'll have to run the rams all the way out and clean off the paint with some thinner. I hope I don't have seal problems later. Everything looks dry.

JB4310, you have a nice rig and nice sideboards. I will never attach this trailer to my 3PH. I'm using the big swinging drawbar exclusively. That limits my tractor angle when backing, but I still think it will be okay. I can extend the drawbar out a little if I have to.

You have a nice rig with your 1-ton Dodge. My 1996 3/4 ton Dodge is a great truck, but its automatic transmission is getting tired. I'm not sure I want to do much towing of heavy loads until I get that transmission rebuilt. The original transmission lasted 160k miles and then I had it rebuilt. Friends told me I was wasting money on a rebuild. I guess they were right. The rebuilt one only lasted another 206k miles.;) The truck has 366k +miles on it now and I'm really ready to get the tranny rebuilt. I think I can make 500k or more if I have to.

That is a nice trailer for the price, the ones I have seen around here are 6k used for a similar piece. Man, that is excellent mileage on a dodge transmission. I am on number 2 in mine with only 92k on my 2001. All replaced under warranty thankfully first one only lasted 28k! I am out of warranty now (7yrs 100k) so hopefully this one will last, just rebuilt at 86k. Both failures were due to electronics failing.

First-- My apologies for dredging up and old post..

Wushaw--- how big is your dump trailer? Can you share the details on your taco?

I am thinking about a dump trailer or maybe just a normal trailer and recently bought a 2010 tacoma 4x4 LB,double cab sport...

Thanks,
J

Chris, last week my wife and I drove by the Texas Pride place in Madisonville, TX while we were on a trip. I stopped in and they sold me a spare for the same price as they charge for the package deal on delivery, $150. I'm thrilled to have a steel-belted, load range E tire mounted on a 8-bolt wheel for that price. Now, all I need to get is a couple extra lugnuts to mount the tire on the holder that came on the trailer.:)

Those lugnuts are $50.00 each.........:p
