i said hustler.....;):D

any of the top tier ztr's are gonna be close......comes down to price, parts availability, liking the dealer, color, comfort, etc.....

Nobody said Hustler Super Z which is what I have. It's the best mower in the world. My dad has a Grasshopper and we both think the Hustler is a better built machine. He has had no issues with his but, the construction of the Hustler is so much better in regards to accessibility for service and gauge of steel used.

Take a look at the Bad Boy "Lightning" with the Kawasaki 26HP liquid cooled. Heavy duty, fast and sells for around $8,000. Dan

i've been looking at ztr mowers too: so far i like the kubota the best: the only thing i don't like about the bad boys i looked at, is the electric deck lift: everything else seemed like real quality. the jd deck lift was done by hand, and i'm not sure the wife could handle that, i guess from what i have looked at so far, in order of preference: kubota, bad boy(with the optional foot pedal deck lift), grasshopper, hustler.

I would put my Bush Hog ZTR Commercial 61" up against any mounted finish mower of the same width. 5 or 10 acres a week shouldn't break a sweat for any good ZTR.

As the owner of a couple of Walker Mowers , I must say that they are the Caddy of all grasss cutting machines, But you won't get a new one for that price. Don't think i am one sided, we spent alot of time on other rigs too .

exmark and toro...same machines/company/parts etc. even the same paint making parts readily available. As stated before...stay away from the homeowner models. They may save you up front but the first time you need parts for it will make up the difference. For five acres, look for a 72" cut. I have two ztr's for my business and only use the 72 on a few accounts but it more than makes up the difference in the amount of work I can get done. Get on in the 26-28hp range.

I have to disagree on the 72" deck unless your yard is football field level. The wider the deck the more chance of scalping. It's also harder to maneuver around obstacles (flower beds etc....).

I have 10 acres I mow weekly in the summer here in Florida. I had a Scag 72", 28hp Kubota Magnum III for ten years, a very good mower. Then I bought a Hustler 72" rear discharge, 31hp Kawsaki. What a difference, 10 acres was 7 hours, now it's 4 hours! The Super Z is twice the mower the Scag was. It cost me $9350 including tax, delivered to my home. The Hustler Super Z has far surpassed the Scag in quality, durability, very simple to service, well thought out design. I wish I had bought the Super Z 2 years earlier when it came out with the current model design.
