Picked up a Murray for resale

Acquired this Murray. Cleaned it up and started it in one evening of work. Should be a nice little profit.
Now this is my kind of 'restoration' project. Got another in the works.

I'm looking out the window at it's brother a 16.5 HP Automatic drive. They work fine.
Cleaned mine up last week. One trip around my yard this time of year and it looks like the first pic again.

They sit so low that when you cut with them all the dust settles on the tractor..........and YOU! I had one back a few years ago before the 1872. I love the engines! They are soooooo smooth! On a whole they are a bit of a problem due to constant little maintenance.....belts and mower pulleys/spindles. But to pick up, clean up and resell they are great because of low cost and ease of selling.

Yeah, always a litle bit of maintenance. This year I caught up on some outstanding issues and some on going ones. Put a tube in a front tire, topped up the leaky tranny, replaced a seal and changed the engine oil. Still can't figure out why the starter is such a slug. Next year I will go after the seal in the tranny, if I have to, I guess.

Nice! Doesn't look bad at all. Heck the seat isn't even cracked! Is it an old horizontally opposed Briggs twin? Those are fairly smooth buggers. Kinda gas hoggy, but decent power. I think it was mostly the EPA that did away with'em. Is it gear drive?
