Re: Project PT-1850

Well heres what's become of that PT-1850 that was on ebay a few weeks ago.

If it's Farmington Hills Township, than me and my uncle will go check it out, providing all the Hydraulics and Pumps work (emailed the seller, hasn't got back to me yet)
Just keeping anyone interested updated.

Re: Project PT-1850

That is a very nice looking cab design. PT should think about a commercial option like that.

$9k is a steal; although I am wondering why it is missing the quick-attach plate (and I am assuming associated hydraulic locking cylinders).

Whoops didn't know the link wasn't allowed. Sorry
If you want to see it go to eBay and search Power Trac 1850.
Seller still hasn't gotten back to me yet

Also the Cab has A/C which is a big plus. Especially here in Michigan.
It may be a 1990s machine with the 3pt Hitch setup or maybe the plate's just gone.
Either way if we buy it, It's gettting that plate put on it. We'd also get the Dual Wheels for it but would only use them if when we needed them.

Re: Project PT-1850

Well I gots some good news.
I just got off the phone with the seller.
The 1850 is a 1997 Model with an aftermarket Cab (Unknown Brand). It was used by a Municipality and Rolled Over into a Lake (unknown why). They were going to scrap it but he bought it as a project. During the snow we got here a few weeks ago, he and his friend rebuilt it. It now Runs and the hydraulics and pumps work fine. He's taking it to get it repaired (engine smokes. Gonna replace injectors) I'm going Saturday with my uncle to check it out. I'll have some good video afterwards.:)
So this would be a great buy! :D I think for $9,500 it is a steal!

Rolled Over into a Lake (unknown why)

Probably mowing across a 35 degree slope...

Dualies might be a good idea.

It would be ineresting to know the manufacturer of the cab, since it was obviously custom made for the PT (there is no way a generac cab would be designed to accomodate the articulating motion).

Re: Project PT-1850

Some words of caution to you...

Rolled over.
In a lake.
No quick attach system.
12 years old with only 112 hours on it.

I'll bow out of this conversation at this point. Just be cautious about this purchase and really think it through.

I can't quantify my comment but it seems to me that the installation of a cab and mounting an AC system on top of the cab will adversly change the slope capabilities of the tractor--perhaps that's why a tractor that in factory stock condition is rated to work on a 45 degree slope rolled into a body of water. I am also confident that the tractor slope cababilites are nowhere near 45 degrees with the single tire configuration now being offered by the seller.

I second the comments above that you really need to think about what you need and then objectively satisfy yourself that what you plan to buy meets the need. While $9500 is a lot less than the list price of a new tractor it is still a significant amount of money--particularly if it turns that the best use is scrap.
