The biggest difference between a 2wd and a 4wd is when you get a 4wd stuck...it's really stuck!

Yeah - aint that the truth!

From my Jeep hobby...

"The difference between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive is usually about a hundred and fifty feet... or 10 feet beyond your nearest winch anchor."

See above comment... your winch cable can reach it! :)

Yesterday, was discing for 9 hours when I got stuck finally, spent a hour getting it out (working alone). Finished this field and one other small one with the inital pass and went home for the night.

Yup, I been there and done that:eek:. Last spring I thought I would get an early start and ended up getting stuck.
This was the first time I got the tractor dirty. I ended up unhooking the disk and pulling myself out with the loader. Then I came back with a long chain and pulled the disk out.
Not fun, that is why I try to be a little more patient and wait for it to dry a bit more:D.

Sorry about the pics. I took them with my old cell phone.

It looks like the only thing keeping your tractor from being swallowed up forever is the loader... looks like if you lifted that up - that would be the end of blue!

That looks like a new tractor ad! "My Montana and I can get out of any tight spot!" Nice looking rig.

It can happen to anyone. I got our Challenger 45 mired up to the hubs on the back drivers a couple of times clearing our place. And that was on 30" tracks. This is what happens when you disrupt the sphagnum for the first time on ground up here. The whole thing turns to soup for about six or so weeks as it changes from always frozen to sometimes frozen! I was carrying a 4400 pound Meri-Crusher on the back and had to unpin it in order to escape. I used the front three point to jack up the mosheen and get logs under the tracks. No dang fun at all!!

Good Mornin Robert and Eric,
Nice mud shots ! :)

I cant imagine that you would be accomplishing much trying to disc in that stuff, Im guessing the rest of the field was OK ? ;)

Yes, the rest of the fields were fine. This was a low spot that kind of is a gully at the end of field but before the vineyard. All the water from this section flows to that point. I knew better but thought I could make it through this small stretch. What killed me is there is a hump at the very end and I couldn't climb it as the clay turned my tires into slicks:rolleyes: I disked 21 acres that day and got stuck twice and both times was in the same field but on oppisite sides where a gully mets an old vineyard I tore out. The drainage was just screwed up in those spots. The other fields I was surrounded by a dust cloud as the ground was so dry. Some of the joys of farming this area.

I would like to say that is was OK to disk but it was a little to wet all around and really wet in the spot I got stuck:eek:. Now I just go over everything with the tiller which actually pushes me through the mud:D.

If the folks that make R4's are looking for a slogan - between the Kubota and the Deere with them on there I think I could offer up...

R4's - you and mud - stick with it! :D
