tilt trailers

Any one on here using a tilt bed trailer to haul there gitter on

I am asking as I have a slight problem with my current trailer and my body

I have an artificial knee and have been having trouble with it since its been in the past year or two. One reason I went to the subcompact as I am a fair sized guy and needed a cab and heat do a lot of snow that sort of thing
anyway the Ramps are heavier on most trailer than my doc says I should ever be lifting again have used spring loaded ramps on lowboys and the like but seems the springs go to pot in just a year or so all the time.

I have been looking at em and just was wondering if any of you had them and were using them for trailer work

i dont currently own one but ya ive used a couple different tilt trailers and i really like them, i just hauled my skid steer last night on a dump trailer and the whole time i was loading and unloading it i was sayin i wish i had a tilt trailer, obviously theyre not as versatile as a dump trailer in that hauling large amounts of dirt or gravel or tree branches or whatever you wanna haul is limited, but as far as loading the tractor up and binding it down in my opinion its much easier, just be sure if you get one to get one with hydrualic dampening so it doesnt slam forward or back when youre loading/unloading. and the good thing is the heaviest thing youll have to lift is your coffee mug while youre using your loader to tilt it down to load it and bring it back up when you unload it. sorry a bit of a rant but ive really come to prefer tilt trailers, and im still a little bitter about last night having to use that dump trailer

Before I bought what I have I looked very seriously into tilt. The only reason I didn't go that direction is because I might want to load more than one thing at a time. If you are loading just a single vehicle they are probably the berries!

I have one. I bought an H&H tiltbed trailer for my multi purpose use. Hauls, tractor, cars, trucks, or anything else I want to put on it. Mine deck is 20' x 82" between the fenders and the entire deck tilts. Mine came with a manually pumped hydraulic jack. The company also sells electric/hydraulic version. I converted mine from manual to electric/hydraulic tilt and added a winch. I also added my own D-rings (6) for tie down points or can use the stake pockets. There are several pics of it in the members photo section under other brands / mahindra on pages 5, 6, &7. Also my avatar. I really like it. Much faster than using ramps. I haven't had any problems getting anything on or off.

I have an old homebuilt (by someone else) tilt deck that I haul my tractor with. My tilt is pretty steep, ane the pucker factor gets a little high sometimes when loading and unloading. I still prefer it to the fixed deck I used to have. It's so much easier than using ramps.

I actually just bought an old used car hauler type trailer, and I keep finding myself wondering if there's a good way to convert it to a tilt. I still haven't brought myself to sell the old tilt yet.

When I think of multiple items I usually referring to worst case senerio like 2 or more things that have no park brake and may not run either. Other thing is a gravity tilt snubbed or not may make multiple unloading impossible unless you have power or manual jack.

I never had a tiltbed trailer for the tractor; had to use two metal ramps. But I did have a 5' x 10' tiltbed on which I would drive my Cub Cadet lawn tractor (riding mower) and a Kawasaki Mule occasionally. As for things that may not run . . . I moved a few big toolboxes for mechanics. These were toolboxes that weighed in the neighborhood of 800 lbs. or more empty, and they were full of the mechanics' tools when I moved them. I simply used a 4 ton come-a-long (winch) attached to the front of the trailer, then winched the boxes up the tilt. No reason I couldn't have done the same with a tractor that wouldn't run. I also used the same come-a-long once to winch a non-running Chevrolet Suburban up the ramps onto a 16' non-tilt trailer.

We use one to deliver a lot of our machines with.
If your looking at a power up and down trailer.
I would say a must for someone with a bad knee is to get one with a remote control.
The angle of the bed will make it difficult to get on and off any machine.
It is neat to be able to drive up on and with a key chain push the button and the trailer levels.
You will be glad you spent the extra TRUST ME!

I don't know what you mean by snubbed.
I'm thinking you mean wheel chocks which I also have used along with chains.
I have had many a rolling vehicle on my trailer that I had to winch on and chain down since they had no brakes such as cars and trucks with no drive trains. Two chains front and two in back held them in place.
I have had my tractor w/ loader, rotary mower, back blade and york rake all on the trailer at the same time with each item chained or strapped down.

Snubbed is slang for hydraulic dampened.
I sometimes move ZTR's and riding mowers for a friend that has Cub Cadet business. I might have 4-6 on my trailer at once. I tried to think about how to do that with a tilt and figured it might be tough. For sure I would need a power tilt trailer for something like that. I kicked it around for over a year before deciding against it. Plus I wanted a deckover tilt and that added more complications to the mix.
