HI all! I have had the 2300 for about a year. It just turned 80 hours and needs oil changed. I bought it used so i have no idea if anything has been done yet. Is there a standard set of how to maintenance instructions available? Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks Jay

Welcome aboard Jay!! Find an MF dealer, and order a complete set of manuals. The MF ones are the best for your tractor, the aftermarket ones lack a lot. We paid less than $100 for a parts, service, and engine manual for our 1523, last fall.

Keep us posted.

Thanks! I have a dealer close by. Is the manual real clear on the process. Is there someone who has posted a step by step how to on each oil change?
Hydro and motor oil. Thanks again.

jayp -- The original Massey manual lays everything out very nicely. I'm new to tractors and oil changes but had absolutely no problem changing both engine oil and hydro/transmission fluid. Give yourself plenty of time, take it slow and easy, and you'll be fine. Oh, and be prepared to remove one of the rear wheels...

Good luck!

Very easily done. The engine filter and drain are obvious and straight forward. Refill through the big rubber plug marked 'OIL' on the top of the engine.
The HST filter will practically slap you in the face when you look under the tractor. HST Drain is on the bottom of the HST on the right side. Refill through screwed-on plastic cap above PTO shaft.
I have not pulled the left rear wheel to clean the strainer, so I can't comment on that. I'll do that at the next service interval.
All of this is covered in the owner's manual. I will eventually buy the service manual, but it's not needed for oil changes.

Remember to pull and clean the screen behind the left tire, after you drain the trans.

You should also change the oil in the front axle. There is a drain on each side, Refill on top, can be done from one side. They say it holds 4.2 quarts, usually it does not. Fill until the oil comes out the screw hole, (remove screw), half way up on the back side. Massey allows, and I would recommend, you use HP gear lube rather than transmission fluid in the front axle.

I think about half of us are using synthetic oils usually Amsoil. They cost about 2x as much as mineral oils will, last much longer, and hold up better under extreme conditions.
