That ground looks pretty wet, not sure what tire would work. Cheaper than a new set of rims and rubber - why not put chains on it?

Or tracks!:D

On my old Handyman jack there's a hole under the lift arm. I have a grab link for 3/8" chain pinned into it, and it's great for just what your pic shows. Used that jack many times over the last 40 years, thankfully less lately!

I'll have to look and see if mine has that hole as it was a real pain to hold the jack and the chain tight and try to crank the handle. Thanks for the idea.

Fellow you are some kind of lucky your tractor did not sink out of sight. There is no way I would have chanced going thru that.

Glad it worked out for you.

You guys deserve the Darwin award for hooking up that jack like that in your pictures........

Not to be critical, but that really isn't a good practice. Get the right tools for the job and it will be accomplished quickly and safely.

Darwin award what Ya mean!!! This is one of the designed uses of the jack, to be used as a winch. Only problem is the attachment of the chain. They have redesigned the way the chain is attached in the new "original high lift" jack so that you should use the "off road kit" for chain attachment. Use this link for a video of its use...YouTube - Hi-Lift Off-Road Kit. Many of the non "original Hi-Lift" jacks still provide a hole in the lift hook for a clevis. I have been recently been checking the various manufactures since I need to use my Father-in-laws this weekend!

I've winched a lot of stuck stuff out with a Handyman/High Lift jack, but I gotta agree with Shmudda - a comealong is lots easier and quicker. If I were going into back land I'd have both. You can unstick lots of vehicles by jacking up and pushing off the jack sideways so the tires get a fresh piece of mother earth to sit on. That's not recommended either, but it sure works. Or running the jack at 45 degrees hooked under a spring shackle or trailer hitch or some such. Same goal, get the vehicle onto fresh ground.
Two good tools, sometimes you need both.

Gimme a winch anyday. Even a 3000lb winch with about three small snatch blocks will do wonders if you have battery power.
We also used to chain a log across both tires at the rear, then reverse until the tractor was sitting up on the log but its impossible with an implement on and tricky at the best of times...
