Hi everyone,

Someone somewhere knows this.

My Woods BH6000 backhoe was originally connected to my tractor's hydraulic system with a male and female quick disconnect pair. A mating version on a short length of hose was coming from the tractor.

Last winter I had the rear remote installed which left me with a pair of female quick connects. To attach the backhoe, I now require longer hoses, and the changing of the female connection on one of the hoses to a male.

I also discovered the quick connections that are on the backhoe are not the same as the ones now on the tractor - the diameter looks the same but they are a different type.

Easiest solution it seems is to replace the hose back into the control box on the backhoe, avoiding any intermediate connections. However, without attaching up the backhoe, I cannot accurately measure the length I need.

Without the hoses attached, it's looking kinda hard to attach the backhoe.

You get the picture.

Does anyone know the length normally used for the connection between the rear remote for the CK-20HST and a Woods BH6000 backhoe? If someone has a good description of the connections that would be sweet.

Also, I'm sure someone can enlighten me as to what these different connectors are that look so similar.

Thanks!

Jon

To determine the proper hose length, why not just take a length of old lawn hose and rig it up along side the existing BH hose. Then back up your tractor to the point you would normally get off to hook up the BH hydraulics before mounting the hoe. You should be able to easily reach the rear remotes with a foot or so to spare before the tractor actually comes into contact with the BH mount.

I cannot enlighten you about different quick connects other than to say that the Pioneer type seems to be the standard for most tractors. I don't now if only Pioneer brand QCs fit but I suspect there is a standard specification as we don't get many questions/complaints from folks unable to match Pioneer style QCs. The flat faced skidsteer style are obviously incompatable.

Thank you Island. You answered one piece of the puzzle, which is how much extra lose is enough?

I bit the bullet today and measured how much longer I would like the shorter hose to be to reach the tractor. I then undid that hose from the control box, a step that was much easier than I had anticipated.

In Canada, we have Princess Auto who will make up hoses free of charge if you buy their fittings and hose. So, for about $20.00, I had a 3/8" x 4', two wire hose made up with the connections I needed. Although a bit shorter, the second hose looked like it might be long enough with the correct quick connects installed.

The backhoe had settled over the winter, but the three point hitch arms fit underneath nicely and helped lift it up to the point where the shorter hose could reach. I will eventually replace that one with a slightly longer one.

Side by side, the two styles of male quick connects were about 1/4" longer. Odd.

Cheers,

Jon

Good work,

I am now very careful to adequately block my hoe when removing, makes hookup a bunch easier. I've had to lift with my loader to block in order to get hooked up when I unhooked and did not block properly.

The key problem is the hoses not reaching.

Mine are plumbed really well, and when blocked properly, reattachment is no issue.

Blocking does avoid some hassles but it really should not be a problem to simply use the stabilizers to raise the BH back up again once you reattach the hydraulics. So long as the hoses are long enough to reach when you back the tractor up almost to the hitch it is only an extra two minutes to raise the BH back up to hitch height. That is about as long as it takes me to find and fiddle with blocking materials so I consider either solution as equivalently efficient. I do prefer blocking to keep the BH from sitting in mud but I find that even with blocking I have to do some adjusting with the stabilizers anyway before I can drive back into the hitch points.
