Kubota BX2230
I have a 60" deck on my BX2230 and its time for new blades. I dont have a mulch kit but was wondering if new Kubota mulching blades would be a better option than the standard blades. I gave up on Gator Blades since they dont have an exact fit for my deck.

Recommendations?

I was thinking that gator did finally make a set that would fit the 60" MMM search last summer for nbrs. But even making the bushing isn't that hard.

Hi Matt. Long time no see. I have mulch blades on my 60" deck on the BX2200 and I love them. The turf needs to be dry and you have to take off just a little from the top for them to work with no thatch. I get windrowing and thatch on my first cut of the season because I have to wait for the ground to dry from the long winter rains. Once I have it short, it's great. No bagging, no fertilizing (nutrients go back into soil). I do have the advantage of no summer rain, coupled with irrigating on Mon. & Tue., then cutting on Sun. after turf dries on top. I sharpen with vice and angle grinder (freehand) once each spring. Good luck!

I put the mulch kit on my BX2350. It was expensive, it seems like around $3000. It came with a large baffle kit, and the blades. The baffles really change the underside of the deck and are fairly long. It wasn't easy to put on but not to bad either. I have been happy with the way it cuts also.

Good lord man! I hope you got a mower deck with that baffle kit for that price. Or else you meant $300, which would be more in line with Kubota pricing strategies.

I built a mulch guard from a bagger boot. After installing a 16 gauge sheet metal insert, I was ready to mow. This way I can easily switch from bagging to mulching without getting under the deck. I really like the look of bagging best, and with the powerflow bagger it doesn't clog. However, if the grass only grew 1-2 inches mulching works well and returns nutrients to the soil. I use standard Kubota blades for mulching and bagging and they work great.
