4720 keeps blowing ignition fuse

I think the safety switch on the seat is figured out pretty well. I would leave it like the factory meant it.

D.

Oh, mine is the way the factory meant it...I got no complaints thus far, nor any plans to disable it...I was just bringing it up in case it was wired like the NH was...he'd be killing his battery for nothing...

Well... that wasn't so bad; was it?

Nah, it wasn't :)

I was more iffed at having the tractor stranded at the bottom of the driveway than about the problem itself which did not appear to be anything more than an NSS issue, which it was.

Kind of a good story/bad story. Good that it was an easy fix - bad that it won't be so easy a repair. (Tear down your air seat..) :( I think I'd miss that air seat this summer - wouldn't want to wait until fall!

The seat itself separates easy from the air lift base using a ratchet box-end wrench. Unscrew four bolts and it lifts out through the back window of the cab provided you unlatch any rear implements that may be in the way. The seat switch is sandwiched between the foam cushion and the steel frame, making it necessary to remove the cushion from the frame to access it, which is not so easy, that's why I opted not to do it now. The seat is back in the cab and with the seat switch connector jumpered all is working fine, air lift, diverter and all :)

Does anybody know if leaving the seat jumpered causes any issues? My uncle jumped the seat switch on his TC35 and it constantly ate batteries...apparently in an attempt to deter this practice they put the switch on an "always hot" circuit...so jumping the switch was essentially like leaving your lights on...Dealer informed him of this so a quick relay setup later, the seat switch was "properly" disabled...
Dunno how the Deere one works, but figured I'd bring it up so next time you go fire it up, it actually fires up...:D

With the key off I measured no power whatsoever flowing through the switch or any of the fuses.

This is not that surprising considering that the safety features controlled by the seat switch on a hydro tractor are more limited than on other types. Hydro tractors can be started with operator off seat regardless of park brake or transmission lever position so basically all the seat switch does is cut engine off if PTO is engaged and operator gets off the seat without setting the lever to neutral and engaging the park brake. Without the blower attached this is not currently a safety issue for me but will become one if I don't get the switch fixed prior to inspection next November.

I was hoping it would not be computer issues.

Oh but I still have computer issues: tractor is functional but still suffers from a schizoid fuel gauge and Error 8 Syndrome :(

Therapy is ongoing :)
