I did buy an 09 Deere 3520 Enclosed cab, MMM, 300cx, front blade, balast box.

Should take delivery by mid month. Looking forward to the green machine.

That is NOT true.

You are probably right. If the whole tractor was manufactured in Japan it would cost a fortune. Look at the price tag of a Toyota Sienna minivan!

Very interesting. It doesn't say where JD CUT's are made but from that listing we learn that 5000, 6000 and some 7000 series tractors are made in Mexico while 8000 and 9000 and some 7000 series are made in the US. Cabs appear to be made in Germany and loaders are made in Canada. Gator ATV's are also made in Canada. According to Wikipedia 5000 series tractors are also made in India and some 6000 series in Germany but these are likely for regional markets.

Considering this, is it possible that 2000, 3000 and 4000 series could be rebranded Hitachi tractors made-to-order for JD? Hitachi has had a partnership with JD for a long time.

Wouldn't bother me, Japanese machines are after all usually very reliable, but I'm curious.

As a matter of information, I've ordered a 3520 from Deere to be delivered at my place in western France in early June. It is being assembled in Augusta, Georgia, then shipped to the Netherlands, then trucked to the French dealer. The engine is produced in Japan and will have travelled a real long way before I get it !

Thanks ! I didn't buy a 3720 like you have in spite of the few extra HPs because I couldn't understand how the small turbo engine got them. What is this added device that works miracles? I'm sick and tired of repairing my two 50-year old Massey 35 and can't wait for the new tractor to arrive. I really intend to WORK a lot with her.

I believe the 790 (3005) and 990 (4005) are completely made by Yanmar in Japan and imported as whole tractors (less loader and wheels). They are the least expensive of the model series.

Karl2, Look at the USA map at #9 Augusta Ga. I believe all the above are made there.

But they are also the most basic models of the series so it would make sense that they sold for less. Perhaps there's a loophole that allows those models to escape high tariff on Japanese imports? The usual requirement for exemption is that no US or Canada made equivalent is available. CUT's originated in Japan so I figure most are still designed there, what with globalization and all. Local assembly is the usual method of avoiding tariff.
