Hi all ,

I'm in the market for a Trailer , but I'm not desperate , just fishing for future
knowledge ... What I want is a 5'5" W x 10' but no more than 12' L , ( that's
usable floor space ) , 3500 lb. each / tandem axle , looking for links semi
local to my area ... I know there are custom builders out there , but does
this size come in stock , thanks in advance ... :)

Why a tandem on a 10' trailer? A single 3.5K axle will yield 2.7K of payload if built properly.

Check out the PJ trailer brand. What I like about mine is that it has removable side rails.

Hi Chris ,

I have read on this site somewhere I believe , a few members recommended
tandems for safety on highways in case a blowout , so for that reason and
also I would be taking this Trailer into my neighbors woods , thru trails with
my Tractor to get firewood and a flat out there would be a 1/2 mile away
from the house ...

That's also why the 10ft. is preferred , because alot of the trails would be
unaccessible with a larger Trailer ...

pj trailers PJ Trailers - Manufacturers of top quality Flatdecks, Goosenecks, Deckovers, Tilts, Dumps, Carhaulers, Utilities, & Car Dollies . Diamond pilot makes a good point, single Axel is good unless you need to use it as dual purpose, tow your tractor and use tractor to haul firewood. single Axel in woods is much nicer, easier to turn around in tight spots like woods tends to have. On the other hand, a dual Axel is better with tire blowout on way home at 55 mph. (it happened to me on way home getting a full load of firewood on 16 fter.)

This is a dealer that is probably not to far from you. If they had been a little closer, I would have bought trailer from them. After looking on the internet, they seemed to have good prices. R and P Carriages Trailer Sales, Service, Parts and Rentals They are in Seneca Il. which is not real far from you depending on where you are in Indiana. I think Diamond Pilot had recomended them also.

Yea, R&P are good people. Tandems will be hard to maneuver in the woods. Especially on a 10' long trailer. You would not have much leverage with the ball only being about 6' from the front axle.

Hi radioman ,

Thanks for the link , this would be a dual purpose Trailer , transport the
Tractor and go into the woods for firewood ...

I did'nt really think about the tandems being a problem in tight turns ,
thanks ...

I have my 4x8 single axle with 2-2x6 high stake bed and it works great for a
firewood getter and general purpose move stuff around the yard trailer , but
my Tractor won't fit in it and on one of my hayride parties , I rolled a tire
off the rim out in this woods with a load of people , had to unhook , leave
the people out there and drive my Tractor back to the house for tools to
put the spare on ( NOT GOOD ) , I will have to think about this a little
more ...
