Tractor
CC 1862, CC 1882, IHCC 127
I am going to try and post some pics. I also have a question about my FEL. One of the mechanics at the local CC dealership and I got into a discussion regarding the FEL for my 1882. It was in his opinion that the tractor was not specifically made for a FEL. He said that the weight transfer wasn't on the frame but rather on the axles, specifically the front axle. He said that the tractor was made for pulling and pushing. He said that by using the FEL I could be taking up to 10 years off of the life of the tractor. He summed his opinion up this way: just because they made a FEL for the tractor doesn't mean that the tractor was made for the FEL. Do you guys have any opinions on this and does anyone have any experiences with a FEL on a SGT? Right now the guy has me a little leary about using it.

Well Papaglide I'm thinking the tractor's a little lite for anything more than a snow blower. And if the dealer is talking you out of spending your money I'd listen.

Unless your partially disabled just move stones/dirt with the trailer. btw I think that a very nice tractor...I sure do miss mowing with a hand throttle tractor.

So I take you you traded in your L model that needed the 600 repair and got this one?

Looks like a cross between my 1872 and my 2554.

Nice rig!
Don't base your actions on one opinion. If you call another CC mechanic you would quite probably get the exact opposite opinion. Same with CC salesman, CC engineers, anyone that has some experience with them.
I had a 1782 with the kwik-way loader for several years. I worked it pretty hard and never had a problem. The loader subframe was designed to take the stress and shock of loader work.
I think you originally said it would be for occasional light use? If that's the case, I think you're OK. If you need it for more or find yourself using it a lot more/harder, perhaps re-visit the subcompact. I would base my actions on how and how much I used the loader. Good luck!

No, I actually bought this at a Kubota dealer who didn't want the 1018. Right now the 1018 is the backup mower and is still for sale. I am still hunting for a 1641 or the like as a back-up to the 1872 and hopefully sell the 1018 in the meantime.

Thanks scoutcub for the insight. I do plan on just using it for mainly snow removal in my driveway. Man I love the thing! :)

I'd definitely go ahead and use it. That's a very rugged tractor, it will handle it. If you used it hard you might wear out front axle parts as the guy said, but I doubt it. Just make sure you put a good amount of weight in the rear to balance it.

No offense to the mechanic, but possibly wearing out front axles is quite a bit different from taking 10 years off the life of a tractor.
