Where's the store you went to in SW Mich? My inlaws live in Niles and that price is a lot cheaper than the TSC's around here. Might have to get one on my next visit.

Howdy forester2! It was a Family Farm and Home store actually and it was in Battle Creek, MI. It was a sale that they had going on which I think is over.

I used mine for the first time this past week and I'm impressed.... Wife was very impressed I think I see a new lawn in the works in front of the MHU.

Okay guys, here's a few pictures.

After storms last night, today was sunny and breezy (and a little chilly actually). We've decided to extend our little garden by another 36 feet so we are going to prepare that section of pasture for tilling.

Here's the 55 warming up wearing the KK II and the Virnig rock bucket.

There are a few rocks to pick out first so we start by digging them up and setting them on the base of the old windmill for removal later. That's my helper/boss - isn't she cute in her headband?

Here's the first pass. This ground hasn't been touched in years and the only thing we did was the wife mowed it yesterday. The KK II just ate it up with no problem. I had the tiller set shallow, maybe 4", because I didn't know how it would work in sod.

It took maybe 20 minutes to do an area about 36 by 40 feet (I'm still getting used to everything) and the 55 never broke a sweat. I did run the the KK II at the recommended 540 PTO rpm which is 2500 rpm on the 55's tach.

The King Kutter II is the best investment I've ever made - besides the TC55, and it is going to be a great addition to our farm. The rest of the garden was still too wet to till so I'm going to wait till tomorrow to till the rest of it. Hope to get some action shots then!

There have been previous posts on this site about checking the bolts on the gear box. Some people have had loose ones. I checked mine and they were fine. I ran mine for about 10 hours, and noticed it was leaking fluid from the drain plug. I alos lost my nut and screw on the PTO (clutch end) I had it set before I used it and it must have loosened up and spun off while tilling.

Good luck.

BTW, don't forget to move your drawbar out of the way. Don't ask me how I know.

Okay guys, I promised you some pictures when I got around to rototilling the garden and.......here they are!

Me and the 55 working up our main garden. It is about 40' by 70'.

The wife took this picture right about the time the tiller went "ba-Bam!". I'm looking back in fear but, it was just a big 'ole rock!.

Yes....It's me with a big stupid grin on my face!

Here's the job done. Took the picture from up at the house - the garden doesn't look that big from here!

All in all, a pretty productive Sunday afternoon! Oh, did I mention that I LOVE MY TILLER?

SWEET! Nice job! That finished plot looks completely rock free. It's just too bad you can't use the tiller after planting the garden. I use a little 2-cycle Mantis-style tiller to "hoe" my garden. It works great also.

So, now tell us what you plan to plant. Whatever it is will love that tilled soil.
