you won't be disappointed with the KK gear. I know a couple guys with chain drives and they have replaced chains and sprockets.

I have about 60 70 hrs on mine, tilling gardens , gravel drives that needed removal, concrete left over from construction on a house, wrapped up a buried fence post, ( darn good thing I have a cutting torch for that one!!), didn't even slip the slip clutch..

Get a can of Caterpillar new yellow and touch it up when through using it , it matches perfect KK yellow.

You will love that tiller! Mine does a great job. I think you are wise to till as deeply as you can before planting your orchard. Trees have a large percentage of their roots in the first foot of soil. Getting the trees to quickly establish and become healthy is important. It would be a mistake to till an established orchard, but before planting is a good practice in my opinion.

I recently started using my tiller to loosen and fluff up the first 8" of topsoil so I could scoop it up easily with my FEL. On native soil, I found lots of softball to pineapple sized rocks. The tiller didn't even burp. It popped those rocks out of the ground and just kept on going. I couldn't even tell I'd tilled anything less than grapefruit sized rocks. Of course, my rocks are fairly soft limestone, so if you have granite, it might be a little tougher. My soil doesn't have that many rocks either, maybe 6-8 baseball size rocks in a 12' x 12' area.

Here's a picture of my old garden. I love this picture because the soil was so fluffy and loose I had a hard time walking in it. Tilled soil is really pretty.:)

Hi John! Glad you joined in!

You know it's funny, I always wished I had a new(er) utility tractor but I could never afford one. It took me until I retired but, I'm the proud owner of a New Holland TC55DA. Same thing with the King Cutter. I thought I'd never own a 3PT rototiller either, but here I am with a brand new one!

Sometimes things do work out!

Mike :D

How do you like your TC55DA? Almost bought one but it was about $4K more than my MX5000.

Hi pitt_md!
So far, I really REALLY like it! Really solid, heavy tractor and the shuttle shift is AWESOME! I don't regret buying it for a minute, course I got a really great deal too!

Well I wouldn't brag about running and wrapping up a tee post with the tiller and slip clutch, not slipping, you should be bragging on how well made your pto drive is made on your tractor!

that slip clutch is to tight or froze up,it is amazing how loose those bolts can be and still till fine and not slip, but if it don't slip, you can really cause major damage to your tractor.

Well your right about the weight of oil,[looked in my manual too!],but, was talking to poster, telling him to look in his owners manual.[which is why they give owners manuals out with stuff]

Where's the store you went to in SW Mich? My inlaws live in Niles and that price is a lot cheaper than the TSC's around here. Might have to get one on my next visit.

I used mine for the first time this past week and I'm impressed. Was going to plow it first but I would have had to go get my buddies plow so after I used the subsoiler on the Okie Dirt I said, Let's just give it a try and see what happens. Man that thing is smooth. I made two passes and it tilled it up great. I'll do one more pass before planting this coming week. This is going to have more uses than just in the garden. I went down the fense line we just put in and lightly tilled it for a grass seed bed. Wife was very impressed:D I think I see a new lawn in the works in front of the MHU.
