Going to Sell The B7510. What's It Worth?

I have been contemplating downgrading to a BX for two years now. I finally decided to pass on the whole idea of getting an additional tractor to be a dedicated lawn mower and keep my B7510 for loader work. I don't have room, I don't need servicing two tractors, and I certainly don't need the B7510 sitting there just for loader work a few times a year. That would be unhealthy for my marriage. I will not do without a loader, however.

Because the B7510 is too intimidating for the DW to mow with, and the DS will be mowing in a year or so, am seriously contemplating downgrading to a BX2660 or a JD2305. I don't need the larger B7510, which really only seems to only offer more ground clearance over the BX. The extra 3pt lifting capacity of the B7510 will never be an issue for me, either, as the largest implement I'll ever use (if even I do) will be a tiller. The loader on the BX is close enough to the B7510 in capacity that my gravel, black dirt, mulch, and snow removal tasks will certainly not be compromised by the BX. I think the BX will be an all better machine for the DS to mow with, but still allow me to retai my loader capability.

So, in the round-about way of getting to the point, what is my B7510 worth? I have scoured the internet, and all the B7510's that were on there a few months ago are now gone. I have found a few, but they are listed at $12,000+. I can't see that is right, but maybe the economy has swayed the used values. I found two similar to mine on Ebay last week, but see they are now gone. Again, they were around the $11,500-$12,000 figure. Huh?

My unit is a B7510 with 220 Hours, the larger capacity LA302 loader with grille guard (not LA272), bar turf tires, 60" mid-mount mower, tooth bar, Land Pride 72" rear blade, Paynes clamp-on forks, extra set of mower blades, and a nice finished concrete ballast. So, if I can't find this animal on the internet, or any local dealers (any within several hundred miles for that matter), where in the world do I find a value? I was hoping to minimize by cash difference by downgrading, but who knows. Every used comparably equipped BX I find with comparable hours seems to be running $9,500+, so I figure the B7510 would be worth more than that. Am I wrong here?

I figure I'll dump the whole works and start with a new set-up with the loader, suspended mower deck, a lighter and more appropriate-sized rear blade, and a ballast box.

So, after I "un-ouija" the numbers, it appears that the dealer has offered me somewhere around $11,000 for my B7510 tractor (220 hours), Bar Turfs, 60" MMM, and FEL. That's based upon the best current price I see locally at $14,700 for a new BX2660, R4's (or turfs), 60"mmm, and FEL. I've heard of $13,900 on the board here, but everywhere I call within reasonable distance, the $14,700 is the best. I have one call I am waiting on from a distant dealer, and when I bought my current tractor, he was about $1,000 cheaper. If that's the case this time, I'll have to buy it there, if I decide to pull the trigger.

I could try to sell my tractor for $12,000 outright, but I doubt that's likely. Then I'd lose the sales tax benefit of paying only on the trade difference when trading. That's worth about $1,000, which would put me back to square #1 with no real savings. So, selling outright not be a great option.

So, a few questions:

A) What do you think?
B) Should I opt for the R4's this time? I have had both types of turfs (standard and bar types), and both tore up my lawn with the B7510.

I guess if the BX2660 is going to tear up my lawn regardless of tire type, I'd rather the more aggressive R4's for snow removal. Because I'm primarily doing mowing chores, though, maybe I'm stupid to consider R4's. One thing worthy of noting is that I see a few mild cuts and bruises on the surface of my current turfs - nothing compromising or deep for concern, but the R4's will hold up better when I start future projects. One dealer quoted me an additional set of turfs and rims for the BX for $300. Should I just consider getting turfs and an additional set of R4's for later, if needed?

I traded my previous tractor to the dealer also as the tax savings (only paying on the difference) was more than I could get in extra dollars selling it outright. It is very hard to sell a used tractor right now due to the economy and the "cheap" financing on new tractors. There are a lot of deals out there on used tractors due to that fact. Just check out Craigslist to see all of the tractors for sale.

I would go with turfs. I had r4's on my previous tractor (B3030) and now have r3's on my current tractor (GL3240) and the turfs are just as good in the snow, maybe better, than the industrials were. The industrials did a number on any finished lawn area they crossed and the turfs are much friendlier. With any tire you need to be careful on finished lawn and try not to use FWD.

Now, if you plan to go into a lot of mud then the r1 farm type tire would proabably be best as the turfs turn into slicks in heavy mud.

I think mine is a 2005 - hydrostatic. Most of the dealers here don't look at the year but moreover the model and hours.

Turfs your probably be fine, buy for $300 for another set is a great deal. My dealrs said the same thing and i am debating on it too. I think i will definitly get a set when i purchase a MMM. Right now i still have a lot of landscaping, tree removals, retaining walls and so on to do...

But i think you are on the right track and i would do it! Sounds like you know what youe needs are and how to get it done!

The average trade-in value (what a dealer would give) for that 2005 7510HSD is about $6000, not including the FEL and the other stuff you mentioned. The average resale value (what dealers get on resale) of the tractor alone is about $8200.
