Hi everybody:

What is the difference between the 400CX and 400X? Obviously self leveling. Anything else? Is there a disadvantage to self leveling? Is the self leveling worth the approximately $600 difference in price?

Please clarify for me.
Regards,
FRIZ

I don't think I've seen anyone regret getting the CX upgrade, in your shoes with a $40k base price for a cab 4720 I'd probably go for an extra $600 - especially if you want to get pallet forks.

400 CX is supposed to add several hundred pounds of lifting capacity and be self leveling.

Higher lift capacity. According to the original press the CX boom was heavier material.

Downside is that the rollback on the bucket does not appear to increase as FEL is elevated. Rollback is nearly the same for both, but as you raise the 400X the bucket appears to tip back thus holding material in better. The CX does not do this, thus carrying a heaped load equals spreading the material.

Self leveling buckets work well from my use.

Cidertom, how high do you have your loader bucket when transporting? I keep mine low to the ground ( leaving clearance).

Transport height is about a foot.
