I'm done with any serious modding of trucks as well. Maybe some airbags or a hitch, but I'd doubt I'll do anything under the hood. There's no need to anymore. We have more power than we know what to do with.

One thing I do like about Ford is they're the last privately owned American car company......for now.

When I grew up there was 10 of them.

Unbelievable times we live in.

Let's see . . . there's General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, Studebaker, Packard, American Motors, Henry J (well, actually Kaiser), Hudson, Willys, and Frazer. I've driven cars by all of those. Were there others?

Actually Hudson and Nash merged to form AMC, in 1954. Rambler was a brand of Nash. George Romney wanted to merge Studebaker-Packard with AMC as well. I wonder how that would have turned out if it had actually happened, although all four of those independents were in pretty rough shape in the mid fifties, getting hammered by GM, Ford, Chrysler's price wars. With the recession in 1958, AMC was saved by the re-introduction of the compact American.

Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg and a whole plethora of other makes in the early part of the 20th century.
