:confused:I am really disapointed that no one offered to help me on this. Maybe it was a stupid question but the least you could do on this forum is give some comment as to what the problem might be. Ignnorance of the poster or something that is so simple that no one wants to bother with it makes me want to not return here.

I guess I got carryied away here but I had a previous post about replacing my fuel pump which recieved no replies either and when I went to this link "ask a John Deere Mechanic" the first reply was "How much $$$ for an answer are you willing to pay" Sorry but I have much better response to questions on the (New Holland) side for some of my other equipment.

You will get better responses to your questions if you are very clear on what the problem is, ie

Does anyone own this type of mower
vs
My mower has this problem( ), does anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong?

Hope this helps, and i dont have that model either.

You should post this in the lawn equipment forum. The folks here have real tractors not lawn tractors.

Matt;)

In answer to your question - no, I don't have a LX279

I have an LX266 but it's air cooled. If I can help I will. But I sense a bit of attitude, or perhaps, entitlement, as it seems you are offended no one came running to your seemingly self imposed problem. I do however hope all is well with your lawn mower.

If it ran before you replaced the fuel pump, and doesn't run now, start by eliminating the fuel related potential problems. I'm no JD mechanic, but I would check the fuel filter, and make sure that fuel is getting that far freely. See if there is water in the fuel at that point, or if the fuel is cloudy. Once you know it is working there, move up the fuel line to the pump. Make sure there is fuel coming freely into the pump, and run the pump with a short piece of hose, or a funnel into a container to make sure the pump is working right. Once you verify that there is fuel past the pump check the fuel delivery system. I'm not sure if your model has fuel injection, or a carburetor. If it has a carburetor, it could be as simple as a float that is stuck, or a choke that is stuck in the closed position, etc. The carburetor, or fuel injection system also needs some air, so make sure that the air filters are new, or clean also. The best approach is one step at a time in a methodical way. There are only so many things in the system to go wrong. I suspect that it is something easy to overlook like the air filter (try running the engine with it off briefly) but critical to the function of the engine.

It is difficult to get help if you walk into a room, and start yelling at folks when they can't guess what your problem is though. Just relax, and think this thing through, ask questions when you need to, and you will work it out without spending big bucks.

I have a liquid cooled F935 front mower diesel and an F525 front mower 17 hp Kawasaki gas air cooled. They crank, they start, they move, they hydrostatic, they cut grass really well, they are fun to operate, they tow my Woods leaf vac very well, they run up ramps onto trailers, they fire on all cylinders, new fuel filters from JD dealer, mower clutch works, use a 15/16 socket with breaker bar to remove blade bolts, use Loktite 767 anti-seize when reinstalling, sharpen my own blades, don't use gas with ethanol (especially with the diesel), don't cut hay or run a baler with them, have 72" and 48" decks, use gator blades, have good glow plugs and spark, tires hold air, use ear muffs, have run out of fuel a few times, never bled the injector pump or carburetor, belt flat spotted once when I hit a brick, don't use the discharge chutes, and finally, I read the manuals occasionally when I get constipated.

Now what part of this spewing ain't working for you?

OK Guys, you can stop worrying about me, I got it fixed. It turned out to be that some dirt got into the carb when I changed out the fuel pump so I had to remove the carb bowl and clean things out with some carb cleaner. It is running fine now. However I had to learn the hard way that if the vent hole gets plugged on the gas tank cap it can cause enough vaccum pressure to blow out the diaphram on the fuel pump causing a lot more expense and troubles when I had ro buy a new fuel pump which caused the dirty carb problem. I was lucky the leaking gas didn't start a fire when the gas was dripping on the muffler and burn the whole thing up. All could have been avoided by buying a $11 Fuel cap. Oh Well live and learn.
