Though I obviously have a preference for my Dmax, I don't think I am biased by saying that I would choose the Ford dead last over the other options. I actually love the look of the Ford over all the others, and for the most part, I like the interior as well. However, I am surrounded by friends and coworkers that all have diesel 3/4+ trucks. The Ford guys have had more problems than I could dare take the time to list. This is obviously not counting the older 7.3 which were great (we have one as well). For example, my buddy has an F-350 dually he uses for pulling his horse trailer and for a daily driver. Ford had to buy back his first truck as it was in the shop probably 30 times in a year. Just ridiculous. His replacement truck (same truck just a year newer) started off much better, but at around 50k miles, it is in the shop once a month now (at least). I have another friend with a similar issue. My next-door neighbor had a 6.0 that completely grenaded so he let Ford replace it under warranty and then just traded it for a Dodge (which seems to be a pretty nice truck). Ok, so now on to the 6.4. We have a neighbor that has one that actually drives around town with LEMON painted in yellow in his back window. He has had all kinds of problems with it, not to mention the MPG is around 11 unloaded. Maybe they'll get it right with the Scorpion engine, but there is no way I would even consider a Ford diesel at this time.
So, while I agree GM is far from perfect (tranny lines, ISS, crappy leather, etc.), I just don't think Ford is a viable option from a reliability perspective anymore. Again, maybe with Scorpion they'll get it right and get back on track. I would love to see them succeed as I have respect for them for not relying on the taxpayer so far in this stupid ridiculous financial mess.
