I know, would you suggest the H.Trailer hitch to face forward or backward on the flatdeck?
does the dolly really steer that well under such a load. The ramps are a traditional pair , the tires would load fine then what would happen when the dolly reaches the center with no ramp?

I would put the trailer facing forward. My main concern with putting it other way is the rear door strength to the wind. The other is the operator of the dolly. If its on the top side and for some reason the winch let go or cable broke he is not going to get run over.

We move 8,000# trailers with ours on gravel and concrete. 2 guys pushing the trailer and 1 guy steering. Works good in tight spots but I will admit most of the time we use the tractor with a hitch on the FEL.

You could load it like we do narrow front tractors like my co workers Ford 961 or John Deere A. We drive the front tires, in this case the dolly, up the right or left ramp, then once these tires are on the trailer straiten it out. The other options are to move the ramp in toward the center while loading then out when the main wheels approach or just rig up a center ramp.

well the horse trailer on the flatdeck is out, it looks like id need a 20' gradual approch as the H. trailer is so low.

But I did manage to back the welder trailer on today, went up a little easier then I expected. Off on another run to the farm this weekend.

Wish me luck last trip there was no water in the house, I suspect the foot valve as the pump wont hold prime.

Can you back your flat bed into a shallow ditch to lower it? You would only need some short planks for ramps. You might have to look around in your neighbourhood for a suitable site but loading like that is much easier and safer.
If you load stuff like this a lot then why not dig a depression somewhere on your property specifically for doing this? Kind of like the inverse of a ramp.

We have put a 2 place enclosed sled trailer on a open car trailer. Facing forward and pulled it on with a ATV then pulled the ATV off the side of the trailer. It was a walk in the park with 2 sleds in side, had a broken axle clamped together to get on trailer. This should not be that hard to do.You see tractors {over the road trucks } Piggy backed on each other. and trucks on lowboys. You may be able to back up to a loading dock and push it on. I have put cars and pickup trucks in the back of tandem and tri axle dump trk off of loading dockets in the past. Chris Putzier

For a fella like me that ditch would be a selling feature.. But I also like the rock pile Iv accumulated. However the folks that come look at the house always say 'your getting rid of all those rocks before you go right?'

oh and the horses crap? Ya and I dont complain about the exhaust from there lawn mowers...

Anyway I just hired a new realtor and lowered the price so hopeing the house sells quick then I can just buy a horse trailer and get the ponys to the free feed

Tell them it is a rock garden and they should be glad its there because they are very rare and to only water it once a year and watch it grow.

I made up a "ski" that fit the bottom of the tonque jack, then pulled trailers around just by winching on the tonque. The horse trailer sits low when riding level but when the tonque is on the ground you should have lots of rear clearance. Just take it slow, a bit at a time and address each "tight" spot as you get to it. Rig a pulley at the front of your flatbed and run a cable to a winch/tractor/truck for motive power. If you use a nylon rope/strap you will reduce any shock loads BUT you will have an elastic band effect which could propel the load forwords when it crests a hump....

There has to be someplace in the surrounding areas that you could use. For that matter, every tractor dealership around here has a dirt mound on their place specifically for loading equipment onto a deck-over type flatbed. I bet that there's someplace like that on either end of your trip. You may have to drive 20km or so, but it still beats 4 days.

I used to operate a rollback wrecker and have used it to on and off load vehicles from semi trailers and straight box trucks.
I would just call one to load the trailer and then off load to your trailer then do the opposite at your destination. a competent operator should understand what your wanting to do and how. the HF trailer dolly would come in handy to keep from damaging the tung of the trailer while maneuvering. Just back the trailer up the rollback and then level out and transfer the trailer onto your trailer froward and tie down. reverse to off load. Think of it as a portable for rent loading dock.
