I.
I would just call one to load the trailer and then off load to your trailer then do the opposite at your destination. a competent operator should understand what your wanting to do and how.

When purchasing the farm 1 thing I required was that the damaged barn doors be repaired so I had a dry place to work and store things during the move. The door was fixed on the P.O.'s $. However he was slow to it and in my impatience I called all the local contractors I could. The quotes I was getting were obscene for such a simple task (2 wooden 10x12 doors).
But just due to the distance from civalization, they were asking 110$ hour avg.
so for someone with real experience and equiptment to come 2hrs north for a 5min job I could pay the extra trip fuel and absorb the extra kms, and just return the trailer myself. Just thought I might save some hassel but its seemingly not worth it.
Again with the time.. but I have everything set aside for a very large hoist
out at the farm, it would eaisly lift the trailer but, will take a long time to set up, and if I rush it wont be in the most ideal location so I would kick myself later.:)

Have you thought about making a horse trailer out of your current trailer? JC

Not with any serious thought. but it did cross my mind as I am building a wood can for it. My old (30 this year) Standardbred would climb stairs into a reefer van, if I asked him. But MY mare would require the winch and a 762 to get her up on that trailer.
I have been feeding them in the round pen lately and plan to park the trailer at the pen and feed her in the trailer the night before I leave. I hope to have her loaded first and seperated from the good old guy, then when he needs a rest stop he can come out for a stretch while she panics from her cage.

Note.. sounds like it but Im not mean or abusive to the mare at all, but shes lucky to be alive. I havent met anyone knowledgable with horses who says I should keep her. But I can appreciate my wifes opinion that the horse was her mistake and she will follow thru with taking care of it. rather then just passing her on to the meat plant. , thats why I underline MY mare, just like all the pets are mine when there bad, shes just bad 24/7.
