Need hydraulic advice.

Im having a problem with hyd lowering and lifting, whoever worked on my tractor hyd before I had it,put a spring onto the lever that opens and closes the pump connected to the arms from the draft and lifting and lowering lever. I know the spring shouldnt be there do to the fact I did have a good mechanic take a peak at it . I dont know if this is the wrong pump but Im not sure what I should do.

I am working on a John Deere 750 2 wd. There is an intermentant problem with the hydraulics. Sometimes they will work fine and sometimes it dosn't do anything at att when I try to lift the 3 point. Can someone tell me what could cause this problem and how it can be corrected please?

fluid up.. screens and filters serviced?

do you have a loader or remotes? do they work correctly?

any qd's in the system?

Sir, I am a BSEE requiring major help and assistance with developing a new home project. I would appreciate it very much if you could direct me to a forum ( if this is not the place) that would instruct me on a step by step design of my hydraulic project. Basicly, I want to mount a small hydraulic pump onto a modified gas/electric powered weed trimmer. This pump would supply power through hoses to a cutting plade having enough total power to cut through 3/4 inch rebar. The idea here is small, compact, and powerful.

I think you can get the info here.. but.. may i suggest to NOT do fluid coupling due to losses, but rather direct drive, high rpm, and use abrasive discs like an angle grinder.. they aren't too torquey.. but have good rpm.. I think your weedeater motor / engine would work sufficiently in a direct drive opertion.. that or set it up on a wobble cam and use a reciprocating blade like a sawsall... both would be more efficient than a fluid coupling IMHO. ( from a BSCE who started school going for EE....

Soundguy, thanks for the info. I too am from central florida, winter haven to be exact. If you think I have arrived at the right forum pls tell me what to do next, as I have basicly explained my delima. I can expand but don't know where to input. Thanks again for the advice.

julian1, your question is very different from the original poster's question. The normal way to give your question the widest viewing is to create your own thread. Since your question is about hydraulics, you would click on the "New Thread" button at the beginning of the hydraulics forum where you see all the thread topics listed. You can put your own title on the thread that describes some aspect of what you are doing like "Power a Hyd Pump with a Weed Trimmer." That will get a lot of attention, probably both positive and negative. With your question buried in somebody else's thread, you not only don't give your question the most views, but you also "hijack" the original poster's thread.

I think most of us might power a small hyd pump with a cordless drill or similar electric tool. The fact that you want to use a weed trimmer makes this really interesting. I'm not saying you should or should not do this, but it's certainly a unique idea. Why don't you start your own thread and see what the experts on TBN think of your idea.

Dalenew: When I got my Kubota B2100, I found the same problem. Turned out the FEL was in the float position which bypasses pressure from the pump to the sump. Don't know how other tractor hydraulics work, but mine goes from pump to front pressure take off, to rear pressure take off to 3pt lift cylinders and back to sump. Anytime one of the spool valves are in float, nothing after it works because all the hydraulic flow bypasses back to the sump. The same is true if you're working another hydraulic advice at the same time. Found all this out when I decided I wanted a hydraulic top link and couldn't have done it without these folks.
I'm still a newbie (less than a year) but I've come a long way thanks to the folks here on tractorbynet.
