Anyone (or your kids) going to the Texas FFA Convention in Dallas in July. If so stop by the Texas Young Farmer booth and say howdy. I will be working the booth on Wednesday through Friday. They typically have a give away drawing each year of a pair of boots for those that stop by.

Doug, I won't be there, but you should have a great time as long as it is indoors. . . it'll be HOT! Where is it being held?

How's your garden? Did it ever recover from the floods?

We will be in Dallas for the week then head on up to Colorado to cool off for a few days. I figured we were half way ther in Dallas (not quite but 4 1/2 hours closer).

The garden went from floods to drought all in a month. Most is still doing good. I gave up on the corn and let the squirrels have it. They seem content to leave the rest of the garden alone. The 100F heat is wilting back the bell peppers and the green beans are about dried up. Jalapinos are thriving, go figure, giving away bunches every week. Yellow squash, the blooms quit setting but the white squash is still going strong. Having to pick the tomattoes early to beat the bugs.

It is a guess of when to water so the steam will not cook the vegatables still on the vine. The cantalope and water melon were planted late but doing great in the heat. Picked the first cantalope this week.

Doug, I'd bet you are driving up Hwy. 287 to Colorado. If so, you will pass within a mile of my house. If you are interested in stopping for a break going or coming back, let me know. I'll PM you with directions.

That is our usual route, right up 287. Great hwy without too many stops. Not sure when we will get loose from the convention on Friday so we have not made any plans yet for that night. You are welcome to PM me, I am still learning this site but I can figure it out.

Ok, I had to look up Wise County on the map, now I know about where you are. Just a couple of hours out of FW. Have a Young Farmer Chapter in Chico with a few good friends up there. That is one of the great things about volunteering for a group like that is you meet great people all over the state who love doing the same thing we do. That is agriculture and helping kids learn about agriculture.

If I remember right we stopped and ate up there last time through at some good road house kind of place.

What is FFA?

Is it farm related and will there be things for landowners to buy? Tractor stuff?

Dallas is two hours from here and I have a full schedule, so it's pretty unlikely that I can get away, but I'm always curious about what's going on.
