Allis Chalmers 616 (Two) and a Kioti CK30 HST with loader and backhoe
Hi all

I have a 6 month old CK30 HST. The thing is awesome but I've made a few longer trips lately and noticed something odd about the steering. When I drive, I constantly have to "correct" a bit to the left and a bit to the right as normal but slowly, the steering wheel is rotating all the way around counter-clockwise. This is to say if I started a trip with the KIOTI logo right side up in the middle of the wheel, it would rotate around completely a couple of times by an hour later.

Does not seem to be loose or go the other way. Does not seem to be messing with the steering.

Any comments?

And you weren't trying to go in a really big circle??? :D

Seroiusly, although I have a Kioti I don't road it and am not completely familiar with the steering mechanics. My old Case 580CK requires a full turn counterclockwise about 6-10 times per mile to compensate for the crown in the road & drift toward the ditch. It has telemotor steering, completely hydraulic with no direct mechanical connection to the wheels. Lots of internal leakage in it's hydraulics. May be a relief valve in yours is leaking ?? With the engine off does the steering wheel turn, ie slipping on the shaft? MikeD74T

Funny you say that. I noticed the same thing on my tractor (dk55). Can't see anything wrong and performance is not affected but the steering wheel does change position? I attributed it to hydraulic steering. Maybe Coyote Dave or Rick Wallace can clear this up for us!!??

Same here, I figure it's the hydraulics, as it is not mechanical, a little leak by would be expected.

I do like the hydraulic steering though, with the relief valve I'm thinking it would be tough to break anything. And steering is super smooth.

Thanks fellas. I feel better now. In response to mike, there is no slippage when the tractor is parked. It must be the hydraulic thingee as described.

A bit odd though isn't it.:D And it did not even have anything to do with the "adult beverage" thread.

How about the customer that called me and said "I put one of those spinner knobs on in the position I like my hand to be.
I have moved it on the steering wheel 3 times but evey time I can't get it to stay where I put it."

I had to explain to him that it is a hydraulic motor that runs the steering and it will very seldom be in the same position twice.:D

I use some forklifts with hydraluic steering they return to the same poistion everytime. Not sure how the forklifts are made compared to the tractors, but they can be made to return to the same spot everytime. It does not bother me where the wheel returns to, but if I had a ball on the wheel I could see how it would be a little aggravating.

I have one of those suicide knobs on my Case. It's the only way I can turn the wheel fast enough to stay on the road!
Jimmy, Just out of curiosity does the wheel go clockwise if you drive on the wrong side of the road ? MikeD74T

I would expect there must be a mechanical link in the steering system for it to return to the same place every time?? How about fluid changes?

Is it fully hydraulic or power assisted?

Tough to sort out how if fully hydraulic it could remain fixed?

Not sure Mike. I'll do a test and report back. It's rainy today so we'll have to wait a day or 2:D I'm made of sugar you know.
