Dave, I guess they don't refer to the class of tractor much anymore. The TC33 shares it's frame size with the TC29. I believe the TC21 and TC25 were class I. That would leave the TC18 as a class 0. As you suggested, the TC35/40/45 were all Class III and the TC48/55 was Class IV. I may have made some mistakes with my groupings and that shows how little it means. As long as you know the Class IIIs are a bigger frame size than Class IIs, that's all you really need to know. I believe the new TC35 may be a progression of the TC34 and is now a smaller frame size like the TC29/33/34. The new numbers and changes have me so confused that I'm afraid to comment on most issues.

EDIT: I just went to NH's new site. In the Boomer tractors, the numbers are :

1xxx
2xxx
3xxx
4xxx

Those numbers correspond to the previous "class" designations. My calling them by the class is probably no longer valid. I should use the new designations when talking about new tractors. Technically, my tractor is a Class III because that's what they called them when I bought mine. However, if you can't find that in reference material, it isn't much use.

The large frame compacts are considered a Class IV. The NH numbering system doesn't correspond to frame class, just to add more confusion on the subject!
Class IV Compact Tractors

The 4000 series are considered utility tractors not compacts.

Now, you've added two more areas of confusion. Messicks.com is not New Holland. Messick's website classes do not follow the size classifications of NH. The 3000 series of Boomer tractors is a class III by NH's sizes. The Kubota sizes may be considered a class IV, but that's not the case for the NHs.

Also, you may notice that I've steered away from using the term "compact tractor" and am sticking with "Boomer." Boomer tractors cover all ranges from the 1000 series through the 4000 series. The economy model tractors like the 1510 are not really Boomers. So there is another exception to the numbering scheme that just gets more confusing the more I talk about it. The Class designations only relate to tractors of the same frame size and that used to be clear. Now, the waters have become muddy and I don't think it's clear at all.

So what is the difference "Boomer" to 1510/20?

This alphabet soup is as bad as Kubota and Harley

1XXX used to be the TZ series?

2xxx used to class 1
3xxx used to class 2
4xxx used to calss 3

Robert, I believe most if not all economy models do not have a raised platform. Rather, you straddle the running gear and sit on a lower seat. They also use more sheet metal instead of fiberglass. Cruise control on HST models is optional rather than standard. There is nothing lacking internally on the economy models, they just have a more Spartan or traditional appearance.

The most irritating thing about New Holland is the many numbers for the same model of tractor. There for awhile, it seemed like they "stirred their alphabet soup" as often as possible.
