Found one with in an hour away on Craigslist this morning for $150. I was off work so I ran up and looked at it. The over all condition was very nice. No broken parts, nothing seemed bent or abused, so I grabbed it. It has something that I can't find any pics of on other plows. In front of both the moldboards (if that's the correct name for the curved parts that turn the soil) there are 2 discs that are angled. Most pics I have seen there is only one per moldboard. It also has the tail wheel with a scraper on it.

I know, I know, you need pics. I will take some with weekend. After I bought it, I took it straight to my cabin property and dropped it off.

Any help on would be very welcome. TIA

Hi Scotty. I read that thread yesterday before I left to go look at the one I bought. great job on the resto and thanks for all the pics.

Do you have any ideas on 2 discs on each of the moldboards? They appear to be angled so they help cut into the soil before the heavy curved part bites in.

HI Beersngars,

The wheels are called coulters, but as to why there are 2 per moldboard...?
You have it exactly right, they cut the sod prior to the shin of the moldboard moving through the soil. I've learned alot on this forum - a couple of guys have shared with me about plows - Farmwithjunk and Byrd have many years of plow experience. I bought a Massey Harris Model 26 2x12 plow in the spring and rebuilt the worn out parts and have made good use of it since. You'll find numerous uses for your Dearborn!
Here's a short vid of my resto - YouTube - MH Model 26 plow

Good Mornin beersngars,
I really dont have an idea on why you have two coulters.

Hopefully FWJ or Bob G in Va will jump in here and hopefully be able to help you out ! Normally one coulter per moldboard !

Is it possible to post some pics, Im sure these guys could help you out then ! :)

Yes, I will get some pics up later this weekend. The plow is now 50 miles away from my camera.

Good Afternoon Coolnorth,
Cool video, thanks ! :)

With apologies, I'm not trying to hijack the thread...
It was a quick rebuild as planting time was coming up - so far the spuds are doing well, despite the shallow plow job.
It's fun to put together the video, even when your cameraman is out of breath and the video is shaky...
My next job for the plow is to loosen up the sandpile underneath the kids playset - back in, drop plow, turn soil, back in, drop plow, turn soil...

Enjoyed looking at your rebuild, Scotty - that looks like a nice, solid plow, beams are good and thick - Beersngars you will enjoy using yours!

Hey Beersngars,

Do you suppose the 2 coulter setup allows for a wide strip to be cut, making it easier for the moldboard? Is it possible the previous owner customized this for some reason? How far apart are the coulters assuming they're side by side?
