I bought a new 4010 for farm use and have put on enough hours to write a report. First of all, I wanted a bench seat, easy in and out and can cram 3 people in it. I wanted the Polaris 700HD but the wifey told me it was too fast, and it did not have a sharp turning radius and was a $4000 adder. I drove the Polaris but found it noisey and to have rattles, but fast. I also tested the Deere XUV620, it was about 20% faster, but no bench seats. So, I bought the mule, in Camo with the power dump, winch, flip up windshield and top..
On to the review. The mule is quiet except under wide open throttle. It is not quite as peppy as the Deere 620I. It starts dead easy when cold, it started at 20F without a problem. The power dump easily handled a huge load of wet wood without an issue. The suspension is harsher than I like, it will rattle you and cause you to slow down, it handles a load nicely though. It turns really sharp, a big plus for me. I tested it on a wet lawn, 2wd with the rear unlocked, it did not tear up the lawn at all. The winch is awesome, warn 3000 pound, with a plug in remote. The fuel economy is about a gallon per hour, general use. The power steering is not to light or hard, the steering wheel does not get jerked when hitting things. One BIG issue that almost got me hurt, some bonehead put the emergency brake at your left hip, and you hit it when you get in. I had load of wood on a slope, and hit the release button when I was getting in, it released the brake and it rolled over my foot. This needs to be fixed. In high range, trying to move slowly, like backing up to something is tough, you push the throttle and it will suddenly jump causing you to hit things. The brakes are just OK, I think they require too much force, but do work when hammered. The box has a liner in it and has a rattle at certain RPM's. It does free wheel, but not excessively, and much less in low range. The comfort is good, the seat is just right, your left foot is a little crammed, but better than the Deere. The flip up windshield lifts to let you into the trunk, or can be propped open for a breeze. It has two storage boxes. Shifting into low, high and reverse if effortless. The locking rear works well. The oil filter and maintenance is easy to access. The headlights are adequate. I did a ton of work with it, there was not a whimper, it handled all of the situations with ease. I wish it were faster, but overall, it is a good machine. The Camo is nice and cleans up easy without showing scratches. I hope this helps, Brad

Thanks for your post , in my research I found the mule to be a really tough dependable vehicle, I purchased a 08 mule and it too has been a good purchase, I dont believe it is as heavy duty as the rtv kubota but it also doesnt have the shifting problems and parts availability are really adequate as the mule has been around a long time,

To say nothing of their being 3+ G's more expensive. Mind you, I'm a Kubota fan, and currently have their tractor and a lawn tractor, both diesels. When it came time to buy a utility vehicle, I chose the '08 Kawasaki 3010 diesel. The Kubota was just too complicated, what with all its hydraulics and all, as well it weighing almost 500# more them my Mule. ( which is important since I trail it.) I've found the Mule more than satisfactory for my needs, and have no regrets. :)

I agree on all fronts on the Mule. I have a 2007 3010 trans 4x4. Added a hydraulic dump, 3000 lb winch and full undercarriage skid plates. I've worked her very hard and not a whimper. Changed the oil at 50 hrs. Checked it at 150 hours and it was as clean as when changed. I do need to change the trans fluid. But it is still clean. I know, there may be shavings in there since it is the original fluid. I work the thing so much there's barely time for maintainance. I do miss the electric power steering they put on the 2008 model. Great machine! I'm also a Kubota guy (Farm tractor and implements) but the mule is much better priced then the bigger RTV1140 which will also convert to 4 passengers like the 3010 trans 4x4.

Don't own one, but our maintenance crew at work has one. It's taken a lot of abuse but keeps going. If I needed an UTV it would be the one I buy.
