Box Scraper 72" box blade pricing

Stopped by the local kubota dealer in Tilton NH to search out box blade pricing. This was actually the wifes idea since Ive been looking for a used one for over two years now with no luck. Got prices of 1150 and 1099 for a woods GB72 and landpride 2572. I almost just picked one up, since this was the wifes idea.
I noticed that Tractor Supply listed a heavy duty blade on their website for about 850 but its not there anymore.

I have both a FEL and a Front blade so I see no need for a box blade.

KTM,

Up here in Canaan there is a a guy, Trader Dave Johnson 632-7322 He's "on a hill but he's on the level" so they say. I think he gets $600 for his 6ft box blades. NOt name brand, but they seem decent for the money. He also has a variety of used equipment.

Hop on your dirt bike and take the back roads or give him a call and bring your truck.

There is also a guy up in Holderness who sells used stuff, but that is hit or miss obviously.

Larry, you don't know what your missing out on.

You should pick one up sometime.

They have to be one of the most versitile implements that there is.

I agree 100%. My box blade weighs about 1100 lbs and when I'm using my loader it is a good counter weight. I also like it for grading the driveway or leveling large areas. The ripper teeth tear up the hard packed gravel or clay and the rear blade levels by filling the low spots and shaving off the high spots.
It also has to be one of the easiest ways to remove several inches of soil easily with a tractor. I used to have a 5' box blade and my neighbor used to borrow it all of the time. He used it behind his 8N Ford and he loved it because he was removing about 1/3 of a cubic yard every pass he made.

Id like to stay with a name brand unit. Im pretty hard on equipment and I want it to last. I think I remember seeing Frontier 72" units for arount $950-1000. Of course, if I lived in the central parts of the country, I could get a Frontier for as low as $600 after searching tractorhouse.

i got a quote of $1000 for the woods hb72, when it came in it had a different model number, the shop told me that woods buying some other box now. . . i didn't know much about it, or where they were coming from so he sold me a bush hog mbx72 for $950. weighs 640lbs and has a floating gate. So far its worked great for me

My Bush Hog SBX72 was $700

Cost about the same as the tractor supply stuff, but it is built much better. The mounting arms are welded and about 3 times the size, instead of the bolt together TS stuff.

I think it was a fair price, and you get a lot more with it than competing brands for the price. http://www.bushhog.com

I have been impressed with Trader Daves stuff in the past. Most is made in Pennsylvania and heavy built. I was going to get a back blade from him but my father showed up with a new "name brand" Woods unit that i have been thoroughly UNIMPRESSED with. It is rated for a 40 horse machine but I put a nice bow in it and have broken the main pin ( a 1/2" bolt!) plowing snow with my 34 horse machine. I have rewelded and reinforced it to make it serviceable.

Its your $$ but my logic is a his are half price and you could do alot with that $600 you save if if meets your initial inspection. Take a caliper to your name brand units steel and compare.
