Thanks for this post... For those of us who still haven't gotten one (and dying to) this information is great, especially since I've previously gone back and forth on the BX vs B thing... You've given some real-world examples of exactly the differences between the two. I've decided to go for a B and this post has only helped verify my decision.

Good to hear the advantages of the gear also. Never thought about that, but the one thing I personally like about the hydro is that when bush-hogging, it can remain cutting even when I stop.

This is great information and a great post.

Nice compare and contrast of your new B2320 and former BX24. I found it very interesting and enlightening though
1*I find my BX just about right for my needs. From your description of the B2320 DT, I can get a sense of how much more HP gets to the tires vs an HST, but again I'm pretty happy with my HST tranny.

1*Aparently mswlogo mistakenly chose the BX over the B when he originally made his tractor decision .
That however don't make a BX a poor quality tractor nor does it mean a B is for everybody.
I faced the same B VS BX decision 5 years ago .
I went with the BX23 and never looked back.
I'm confident that had I gone with the B 2410 I would have made the wrong decision just as mswlogo did with the BX24.

Were you the fellow who had the post a while back about not being able to get your boat out with the BX? I'm wondering if you ever did solve that problem (prior to buying the new tractor).

For example when I was trying to pull boat out in sand if I just push the HST peddal lightly with this huge load nothing happens. Then I push it to the floor and things start to move. But the peddal is to the floor. If I start to loose traction I'm dead becase they start to spin way to fast. I let up to get grip again but have no power. Torque and Speed are coupled on the HST.
Have you pulled the boat out with the B yet?.

Not yet, too much wind Sunday to go near boat.

Hopefully this Saturday if all goes well.

But after using the BoxBlade full going up hill idle I'd be really amazed if it can't.

On the 3PH control, what you're describing for the BX25 and I think the B2320 is the quarter inching function. On the BX, you do have to pull the lever in towards the seat hard while moving it up or down to hit the quarter inching stops, which were not set correctly on my old BX1850. The stops are adjustable from under the fender and I had to move the up stop so I got more upward travel in the lever to get the valve to open to the quarter inching position. Not sure a lot of BX owners even know this feature is there. I mentioned it to the delivery guy and he didn't even know what I was referring to.

The B2320 DTN does not have a quarter inching valve !!

It has what they call a "Position Control Valve" in place of the Quarter Inching Valve.

So what the heck is a Quarter Inching Valve on the BX24?

Regardless the B2320 DTN has two speeds up and two speeds down.
I remain puzzled what a Quarter Inching Valve is.

Neither Quarter Inching or Position Control have any thing to do with the speed at which the 3 point raises or lowers.

I have not tried tapping it though like they do in the video. I just hold it in the "Quarter Inch" position for a gradual lift to spread out the load in the boxblade.

Also this thread discusses it and it's still not clear.

This document seems to indicate it's just finer control (i.e. controlling the speed it moves up and down so you can get it where you want it when you want it).

KUBOTA BX1850 - BX2350 - BX24

This thread explains the difference between position and quarter inch nicely. The Specs say B2320 (DTN) should have a Position Control and it does not. It operates just like the BX. You can pulse it in the slow position or hold it in the slow position.

Tried pulling boat out today. No go :(

Everytime I fail I'm more impressed with the fact the jeep pulls it out so easy. With all season tires that are due to be replaced no less.

Also double checked "quarter inching valve" and it will pulse up or down or move slow up or down or move fast up or down.

Maybe everyone is confusing specs between the 2320 DT (gear drive) and the 2320 DTN (gear drive narrow).
The DT has quarter inching and available with an FEL.
The DTN (narrow) is not available with an FEL but has position control.
