BX and garden plowing

Earlier in the year while at a sale found a leinbauch plow model 1912 and bid on it and won. brought it home and have not had time to try it until now,plow is a 12" and is sized right for BX no mods needed.Wow was I inpressed this plow is a perfect fit for this tractor. Garden was already planted so after mounting it and making some adjustments whent down to feild below house which has been Sod for 20 yrs and you know this little Bx pulled this thing right along rolling over a nice fur was just going to try it well that lasted about 1/2 hr, it was great should have purchased one a few yr's back.Now i'll have to work it down maybe try some late sweet corn.Tractor never slipped a tire in 4 whl,low range.

What tires are you using? I plow my small garden spot every year with my BX2200 which does fine even with the turf tires.

Using truf tires even had mower deck on it pushed the fur a little but diidn't hold it back for sure.Have a picture somewhere of plow, non of BX2230 at work.

I'm sure it depends on your ground and what you're doing but I hope I'm not lazy enough to not remove my MMM next time. It really gets in the way when doing ground engaging work. You might want to consider removing the MMM for any significant work in the dirt.

A BX can plow well if the soil has previously been turned and is loamy, preferably sandy loam. When it comes to dry clay, or soil full of roots, that's another matter.

Sweet corn huh, seems that's about all they grow or sell nowadays. I miss the old unsweet white field corn. I used to go out in the field where friends grew livestock feed and pick "roastin' ears", shuck it, and take it to my grandma who then creamed it and made "fried corn" in her big old cast iron skillet, literally simmering the stuff with bacon, not sweet, but just the right touch of salt and black pepper. Now that was some good corn! Haven't had any of that yummy stuff in years.

That brings back memory's of my grand mother making baked corn my mom and my wife make it but it ain't like grandma made it.

She made it in a pan put that pan in a pan of water in the oven MM good !

just thinking of it I think I'll ask my wife to make it again
I just don't tell hers isn't as good as grandma's or I'll never taste it again!

I'll have to ask my wife to try making my grandmothers fried apples I'm getting heaver just thinking about it.

Growing up, we raised our own food in the garden as well as walking around in a field or barnyard. We didn't bother to grow "sweet corn"; didn't even know what it was until I grew up, we too just walked out into one of our corn fields and picked it off the stalk, good stuff indeed.
